On December 29, netizens shared a series of photos of Nguyen Xuan Son's relatives leisurely strolling and visiting a coffee shop in the center of Viet Tri city, before the second leg semi-final match between Vietnam and Singapore in the framework of the Southeast Asian Football Championship (ASEAN Cup).
Many fans recognized him and asked to take pictures with the player's family.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Marcele Seippel - wife of player Xuan Son - said that she, her children and parents have been in Viet Tri (Phu Tho) since the evening of December 28. This morning (December 29), the whole family spent time exploring Van Lang Park opposite the hotel where they are staying.
“My family just finished their Christmas vacation in Da Nang. On December 28, my two children and I flew from Da Nang to Hanoi and then to Phu Tho to watch the match at Viet Tri Stadium. The weather here is very nice, everyone is friendly and lovely. I hope the players will play well and bring victory to the Vietnamese team,” Marcele confided.
Marcele also revealed that after the family rented a hotel room in Phu Tho, Xuan Son had a short meeting with relatives and played with his children.
“It was a short time but the whole family had fun. He returned to the team shortly afterwards. We are looking forward to tonight’s match,” Marcele said.
Marcele hopes her husband will continue to shine, and together with his teammates, bring victory to the Vietnamese team against Singapore.
After Xuan Son's successful performance in the ASEAN Cup matches, his wife and children received much love from Vietnamese fans.
Every time they go out, Marcele and her children are recognized by the audience and asked to take pictures with them. The sudden change makes her a little embarrassed. However, the wife of soccer player Xuan Son feels grateful for everyone's love.
“I want to learn more Vietnamese to communicate better with the audience. Over the past time, my husband and I have worked hard to learn Vietnamese. Hopefully one day, we can communicate fluently,” Marcele added.
The person who took the photos being shared by netizens is Mr. Duc Thanh (living in Viet Tri, Phu Tho).
Mr. Thanh said that at 11:15, he happened to pass by Van Lang park, saw player Xuan Son's family so he asked to take some pictures as souvenirs.
At that time, the Brazilian player's family went for a walk and stopped at a cafe by the lake. When he asked to take some pictures, Mr. Thanh received a nod of agreement and a lovely smile from the player Xuan Son's wife.
“Xuan Son’s family is very friendly. His father-in-law wore a shirt with a red flag and yellow star, with his son-in-law’s name on the back. Many spectators nearby also asked to take photos with him, and the whole family was smiling,” said Thanh.
According to Mr. Thanh, from 3 p.m., many spectators from neighboring provinces and cities began to flock to Viet Tri Stadium. The atmosphere began to get exciting.
“I expect Xuan Son to score two goals in tonight’s match. He always knows how to stay calm, handle the ball and take advantage of opportunities to score,” Thanh shared.
The second leg of the semi-final between Vietnam and Singapore will take place at 8pm on December 29 at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho. This is the third match that striker Xuan Son has played for the Vietnamese football team.
Nguyen Xuan Son's birth name is Rafaelson Bezerra Fernandes. He came to Vietnam to compete since 2020.
The male player received the decision to become a Vietnamese citizen on October 15. Nguyen Xuan Son made his debut for the Vietnamese national football team on December 21 in the Vietnam-Myanmar match. So far, he has scored 3 goals after 2 matches in this year's ASEAN Cup.
