Reviewing the outstanding results of Thai Binh province in 2024, comrade Nguyen Quang Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: In 2024, under the leadership and direction of the Central Government, the high determination of the entire political system, the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army in the province have united, demonstrated determination, creativity in leadership, direction, organization, implementation and strived to achieve outstanding highlights in socio-economic development.
Comrade Nguyen Quang Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee reported on the socio-economic development situation of Thai Binh province in 2024.
Economic growth rate (GRDP) increased by 7.01% compared to 2023 (the province's economic scale reached 132,759 billion VND, ranked 23rd nationwide). The economic structure shifted in a positive direction; in which agriculture, forestry and fishery accounted for 19.7%; industry and construction accounted for 44.3%; services accounted for 30.4% and product taxes accounted for 5.6%. By the end of 2024, Thai Binh province had completed 15/20 targets of the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress. Total state budget revenue reached more than 28,000 billion VND, reaching 144% of the estimate, up 15.7% compared to 2023; revenue in the area was 12,600 billion VND; of which domestic revenue was 11,578.9 billion VND, reaching 134.5% of the estimate, up 18%.
The province's investment capital attraction reached over VND43,177 billion; including 199 production and business investment projects with a total registered capital of over VND30,100 billion. In particular, foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction reached 1.16 billion USD, ranking 12th nationwide. 2024 is also the third consecutive year that Thai Binh has had the number of newly established enterprises exceed 1,000. The rate of public investment disbursement compared to the plan assigned by the Prime Minister is among the top in the country.
The province has urgently directed the streamlining of the apparatus of the political system to be "Refined, compact, strong, efficient, effective, and efficient" according to the direction of the Central Government. In the period of 2023 - 2025, the province has developed a project to rearrange 28 commune-level administrative units to establish 10 new communes. After the rearrangement, the whole province has reduced from 260 communes, wards, and towns to 242 communes, wards, and towns. Implementing Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee "Some issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, effective, and efficient", the province has urgently directed the reorganization of the apparatus of the political system.
The program of building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, and model new rural areas continues to receive attention and direction in a practical and effective manner. In 2024, the province recognized 13 communes meeting advanced new rural standards and 2 communes meeting model new rural standards. In 2024, the province will focus on responding to and promptly overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3 (storm Yagi), preventing human casualties and minimizing damage to crops, livestock, and property of people and businesses. Thai Binh Economic Zone has affirmed its role as a key point, driving force, and creating breakthroughs in economic development, and has been a reliable destination for investors.
Focus on directing and removing obstacles and bottlenecks, especially in site clearance, to speed up the progress of organizing and implementing key and important projects to create momentum for socio-economic development. Organize many important events and make a mark in the cultural and social fields. The fields of education and training, healthcare, public health care, and job creation for workers continue to receive attention and have made clear progress. Poverty reduction, care for policy beneficiaries, people with revolutionary contributions, and ensuring social security are well implemented. Thai Binh has organized and launched a peak emulation campaign "300 days of joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" with the goal of completing the construction of 1,164 new houses and renovating 942 temporary and dilapidated houses by September 2025. National defense and security work continues to be strengthened, building a strong, compact, and disciplined provincial armed force.
