On December 12, Quang Ninh province solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. Attending were comrades: Vu Dai Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Military Party Committee; Trinh Thi Minh Thanh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Dang Xuan Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation.
80 years ago, the birth of the Vietnam People's Army was a major historical event of the Vietnamese revolution. For the first time in history, our working class and people had a new type of Army, organized, educated, trained and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh; an Army with the nature of the working class, born from the people, fighting for the people. The achievements and feats of arms of the Vietnam People's Army over the past 80 years have contributed to firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland, protecting the national and ethnic interests; protecting the Party, the State, the people and the socialist regime; maintaining political stability and a peaceful environment for national construction and development; and affirming Vietnam's position and role in the international arena.
With its position as a “fence”, guarding the gateway to the Northeast region of the Fatherland, Quang Ninh has always been identified by the Central Government as having an important position in terms of geopolitics, economy, culture, national defense, security and foreign affairs. Along with the growth and maturity of the Vietnam People's Army, the Quang Ninh armed forces were born early and have continuously developed and grown, making particularly important contributions to the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland. The glorious tradition of the provincial armed forces is forever a source of pride and strength for today's generations to preserve and promote.
During the wars of national liberation and defense of the Fatherland, more than 8,000 outstanding children of Quang Ninh sacrificed their lives on all battlefields. 4,923 wounded and sick soldiers left a part of their blood and bones for the cause of national liberation and defense of the Fatherland and tens of thousands of frontline laborers devoted their youth to the independence of the nation. 81 groups and 23 individuals were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces; 465 mothers were awarded and posthumously awarded the title of "Heroic Vietnamese Mother". That glorious tradition will forever be a source of pride and strength for today's generations to preserve and promote.
Speaking at the meeting, comrade Vu Dai Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Military Party Committee, affirmed that the glorious feats of arms and outstanding achievements of the provincial armed forces in the cause of national liberation, construction and protection of the Fatherland, have written heroic pages of history, contributing to further embellishing the glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Army "Loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism, completing any task, overcoming any difficulty, defeating any enemy", enriching the tradition of "Discipline and Unity" of the heroic homeland of the Mining Region; worthy of the title of twice-Heroic unit of the People's Armed Forces that the Party and State have bestowed upon it.
In the context of complicated developments in the world and the region, the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland, consolidating national defense and security, and building the Army in the new situation poses higher requirements; requiring the building of a comprehensively strong provincial armed force that is "Exemplary and exemplary", ready to receive and excellently complete assigned tasks. The Provincial Party Secretary requested that in the coming time, the whole province must continue to firmly grasp and seriously implement the Vietnam National Defense Strategy, with the viewpoint of protecting the country, defending the country early, from afar, when the country is not yet in danger; mobilizing the combined strength of the entire people, of the entire political system, building an all-people national defense, an all-people national defense posture associated with people's security, people's security posture; building the defense areas of the province and districts, towns and cities increasingly solid to meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
Continue to effectively implement the policy of building a strong, compact and elite Army to meet the requirements of building a revolutionary, regular, elite and modern Army in the new situation; build a strong provincial armed force in all aspects, taking political construction as the basis; always be proactive, sensitive, grasp and closely forecast military and defense situations, organize forces, weapons and equipment to be ready to receive and successfully complete all assigned tasks.
Strengthen innovation and improve mass mobilization work, participate in helping people reduce poverty, prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, rescue, etc., while closely coordinating with forces, contributing to maintaining political security, social order and safety, creating a favorable environment for economic - cultural - social development; closely linking economic development with strengthening national defense and security in the province. Continue to promote the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle and carry out the Campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of being Uncle Ho's soldiers" in conjunction with implementing Resolution 4 of the Central Committee (term XII), Conclusion No. 21-KL/TW (term XIII) on Party building and rectification; organize the summary of Resolution No. 18 of the Central Committee of the Party, term XII and arrange and perfect the organization and apparatus of the political system in the direction of "streamlining - compactness - strength - efficiency - effectiveness - efficiency"; create positive changes in Party building work; foster and improve the qualities and capacities of cadres and Party members; prevent and combat corruption, waste and negativity.
The Provincial Party Secretary also requested to focus on leading and directing the preparation and successful organization of Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term and the 16th Quang Ninh Provincial Party Congress towards the 14th National Party Congress. In particular, Party Congresses at all levels in the Provincial Military Party Committee must be carefully prepared, truly exemplary and representative of the Provincial Party Committee.
At the commemorative meeting, delegates reviewed the historical milestones of the Vietnam People's Army and the armed forces of Quang Ninh province.
On this occasion, 3 individuals with outstanding achievements in training, combat service, building the People's Army, strengthening national defense, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland were honored to be awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal by the President.
