Meeting to introduce the poetry collection 'Flowers of Life in the Next Season' by journalist and poet Nguyen Hong Vinh

The poetry collection “Flowers of Life in the Next Season” consists of two parts, part 1 is for selected poems, part 2 includes thoughtful comments on the poems printed in this collection. The collection of more than 200 pages demonstrates the author’s meticulousness and dedication.

“Hoa doi mua sau” is the 12th collection of poems by poet Nguyen Hong Vinh after more than 10 years of coming to poetry. The collection of poems is selected from poems published in central and local newspapers from November 2022 to September 2023, focusing on the theme of love for people; love for the homeland and the Fatherland; reflections on human affairs in the time when the country is open and integrated today.

Poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Writers Association Publishing House, affirmed that poet Nguyen Hong Vinh is a very special case of poetry writing.

“He used to be a journalist, a press manager, a person working in the Party’s theory and ideology, which makes people think he is a dry, principled person. But no, I was really surprised when one day he opened his arms to accept poetry. It can be said that poetry chose him naturally. With 12 poetry collections, I imagine he has two resumes, one is a journalist, a theorist, a Party’s ideologist, and the other is a burning soul, easily moved and trembling before the beauty of life,” poet Nguyen Quang Thieu expressed.

Poet Bang Viet, former Chairman of the Hanoi Literature and Arts Association, said that the collection of poems shows that the creativity and working capacity of poet Nguyen Hong Vinh is very valuable, it is a huge labor force. Poet Nguyen Hong Vinh is known as a theorist and journalist who has undertaken many important tasks assigned by the Party and the State, but he still gives poetry a certain position to have quality poetry collections.

“Through the 12 poetry collections of poet Nguyen Hong Vinh, there are many things that his colleagues need to learn. He does not abuse political commentary in his poetry, but transforms it into poetry in a comfortable and quick way. In it, there are emotions, of faith, hope, of daily life, but there is no heavy shadow of theory. I think this is also an admirable way of writing poetry,” poet Bang Viet shared.

Having composed music for many poems by poet Nguyen Hong Vinh, musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, commented: "Poet Nguyen Hong Vinh chose many topics, including a very broad area that has never been fully exploited, which is the area of ​​love and emotions that only poet Nguyen Hong Vinh has."

"This emerges in each poem, each very small paragraph, not the word "overflowing love" or "general love". Here, many areas, many fields, many localities are exploited, making each poem have new qualities. I always look for those new things to put to music," added musician Do Hong Quan.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, Chairman of the Central Council for Literature and Art Theory and Criticism, feels that Nguyen Hong Vinh's poetry is simple but very "penetrating". The image of the homeland in the lowland region of the North is expressed in a natural and profound way. In particular, Nguyen Hong Vinh's love poems are always burning, full of longing and nostalgia.

Touched by the affection he receives from friends and colleagues, Associate Professor, Doctor, poet, and journalist Nguyen Hong Vinh said that it is both a motivation and a pressure for him to continue publishing more valuable poetry collections.

“I will try to make the next collection of poems better than the previous one. That forces me to strive to surpass myself,” he emphasized.
