At the ceremony, the representative of the Bac Giang City People's Committee announced the decision to name Tran Kim Xuyen Street and Dao Tung Street. Accordingly, Tran Kim Xuyen Street has its starting and ending points at Duong Quang Bo Street located in the Southern Urban Area of Bac Giang City, in Tan Tien Commune, with a length of 0.56km, a roadway width of 7.5m; sidewalks of 2x4.5m.

Journalist Tran Kim Xuyen (1921-1947) was born in Son My commune, Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province. In August 1945, he was appointed to the position of Director of the Office of the Ministry of Propaganda and Deputy Director of the Vietnam Information Department, in charge of Vietnam News Agency (now VNA). On January 6, 1946, he was elected as a delegate to the 1st National Assembly in Bac Giang region.
On the morning of March 3, 1947, journalist Tran Kim Xuyen heroically sacrificed himself in the Dam Sen area, Ngoc Son commune, Chuong My district, Ha Tay province (now Hanoi) while on the way to evacuate documents. He was the first Vietnamese journalist, the first News Agency officer to sacrifice himself in the resistance war against the French.
Dao Tung Street has its starting point at Chu Van An Street and its ending point at Ba Trieu Street, located in the western urban area of the city, in Tan My commune, with a length of 1.18km, a roadway width of 12m; sidewalks of 2x6m.
Journalist Dao Tung (1925-1990), real name Do Trung Thanh, was from Phu Lang Thuong, Bac Giang province. From May 1966, he was Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam News Agency, from 1977 he was Director General and Editor-in-Chief of VNA until his death. Since the 1970s, journalist Dao Tung has made many contributions to the development of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
He also made important contributions to the International Organization of Journalists (OIJ) as Vice President of OIJ. Journalist Dao Tung also holds many other important positions such as: Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly, Vice President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association, etc.
Speaking at the ceremony, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang affirmed: This event of special significance demonstrates the morality of “When drinking water, remember its source”, the gratitude of the Party, the State, the government and people of Bac Giang province, Bac Giang city, and the VNA staff towards journalists Tran Kim Xuyen and Dao Tung, typical representatives of the generation of journalists and soldiers who have made great contributions to the struggle for national liberation and to the revolutionary journalism of Vietnam. This is also a recognition for VNA, the press agency honored to be named by Uncle Ho, with a long and proud tradition.
