The annual Balikatan, or “shoulder-to-shoulder” exercises will run from April 22 to May 10, according to Reuters. The joint exercises will take place at a number of locations, with the US and Philippine militaries simulating the recapture of enemy-occupied islands on the northern tip of Luzon and in the Batanes island group. Manila said the exercises are not aimed against any country.
