Attending the program were comrades in the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, departments, branches, agencies, units, enterprises, collectives, individuals inside and outside the province, and kind-hearted people, enterprises, collectives, individuals inside and outside the province accompanying the program.
TET FOR THE POOR - WARM SYMPATHY OF FELLOW PEOPLE
Along with economic and social development, the work of caring for people with meritorious services and implementing social security for the poor and people in difficult circumstances has always received special attention and been effectively implemented by Nghe An province.
With the active participation of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and organizations at all levels, the support of the people, the business community, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists, poverty reduction work in Nghe An province has achieved many important results, the poverty rate has decreased sharply, averaging 2-3% per year, and the material and spiritual life of the poor has been constantly improved.
In early 2023, Nghe An province launched a program to mobilize and support the construction of houses for more than 15,800 poor people and people with housing difficulties in the period of 2023 - 2025.
Up to now, after 1 year of implementation, the whole province has built and handed over 7,517 houses (reaching 48%), with a total amount of more than 350 billion VND from socialized sources, thereby contributing significantly to helping the poor and people in difficult circumstances improve their housing and escape poverty sustainably.
However, due to its large area, over 83% of which is mountainous, large population, located in a harsh climate zone, frequently affected by natural disasters, inadequate infrastructure, and socio-economic difficulties, Nghe An still has 45,333 poor households (equivalent to 5.19%), 50,063 near-poor households (equivalent to 5.73%) and many households in especially difficult circumstances that need the support of the whole society.
Responding to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind" and continuing the good tradition of "mutual love and support" of the nation, over the past 11 consecutive years, implementing the program "Tet for the poor", Nghe An has called for more than 726 billion VND to take care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households, with an average value of each gift of at least 500,000 VND on the occasion of the traditional Tet holiday of the nation.
For the Lunar New Year 2023 alone, the whole province mobilized more than 137 billion VND, giving gifts to more than 188 thousand poor households, near-poor households, policy families, and social protection beneficiaries.
Preparing for the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, on January 11, 2024, Provincial Party Secretary Thai Thanh Quy issued a letter calling on agencies, units, business community, enterprises, philanthropists and people to continue joining hands with the Party Committee and government of Nghe An province to support and help many poor and near-poor households in the province overcome difficulties, stabilize their lives and celebrate the traditional Tet Giap Thin 2024 more fully.
CONTINUE TO CARE FOR THE POOR DURING TET
On behalf of the provincial leaders, speaking at the program "Tet for the poor - Spring of the Year of the Dragon", comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province affirmed: Taking care of Tet for poor households, near-poor households, and households in difficult circumstances is a task that the entire political system of Nghe An province, organizations, individuals, and businesses regularly pay attention to and carry out.
Reviewing the results of the 11 years the province has organized the program, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province emphasized: This is a meaningful activity, contributing to sharing some of the difficulties, adding motivation for poor households and households in difficult circumstances to have a warm, full and happy Tet; and is the most vivid proof affirming the tradition and good morality of "loving others as you love yourself" full of humanity of the people of Nghe An.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his gratitude, recognition and deep thanks to the kindness and noble gestures of domestic and foreign agencies, organizations, units and individuals, especially businesses and entrepreneurs who, despite very difficult conditions, have actively responded and practically supported the poor and poor households through the Fund for the Poor at all levels and social security programs.
Preparing to welcome the Year of the Dragon 2024, responding to the Appeal Letter of the Provincial Party Secretary, in recent days, agencies, businesses, and philanthropists have shown the spirit of "mutual love and support" by enthusiastically participating in contributing and supporting the poor to celebrate Tet. On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung called on Party committees, authorities at all levels, organizations, and individuals inside and outside the province... to continue to care for and support Tet for the poor to ensure practical meaning in the spirit of "all people enjoy Tet, welcome Spring" and "join hands for the poor, leaving no one behind".
"Nghe An province will direct agencies, units, and localities to allocate and deliver your contributions to the poor and poor households to ensure fairness and timeliness," said the head of Nghe An province People's Committee.
At the same time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also hopes that the poor and those in difficult circumstances need to further promote their will to be self-reliant, self-reliant, take care of their labor, join hands to care for the poor in the same situation according to the moral principles of "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves", "the less torn leaves cover the more torn leaves" and the aspiration to rise up and escape poverty sustainably.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Government and the People of Nghe An province, I would like to sincerely thank Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly for visiting and presenting Tet gifts to the poor in Nghi Loc and Yen Thanh districts and taking the time to attend the program "Tet for the poor" of the province. At the Program, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue directly presented gifts to 14 poor households in especially difficult circumstances.

According to the announcement of the Organizing Committee, as of 9:40 p.m. on January 21, the Program "Tet for the Poor - Spring of Giap Thin 2024" organized by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province had 207 agencies, units, enterprises, and philanthropists registered to support the Program with a total amount of more than 140.7 billion VND.
