A representative of Noi Bai airport said that today (January 25), on the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday, the airport welcomed 587 flights with 93,500 passengers.
Notably, the number of passengers is spread across both stations and time slots during the day, so there is no local congestion, and traffic in all areas and routes is still quite smooth and convenient.
From January 26 to February 2 (ie December 27 to the 5th day of Tet), Noi Bai airport applies level 1 enhanced aviation security control measures.
Therefore, passengers passing through the airport these days need to strictly follow the regulations and instructions of the authorities to complete aviation procedures quickly, conveniently, and ensure security and safety.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam recommends that passengers proactively grasp flight information to have the most suitable travel plan.
Many flights to Vinh and Thanh Hoa had to divert to land at Noi Bai.
Due to fog, on the morning of January 24, 7 flights arriving at Vinh and Tho Xuan airports had to divert to land at Noi Bai airport and 9 other flights were delayed.
A representative of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam informed that, according to the law, in the first quarter of each year, some airports in the Northern region are affected by fog, limited visibility causing disruption in operations.
Specifically, on the morning of January 24, from 1:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. due to fog at Vinh airport, Vietnam Airlines had 5 flights to this airport diverted to land at Noi Bai airport, 4 flights were delayed and had a chain reaction affecting a number of other flights during the day.
Similarly, VietJet Air had 1 flight to Vinh airport, 1 flight to Tho Xuan airport had to divert to land at Noi Bai airport, 5 flights were delayed and had a chain reaction affecting some other flights during the day.
Authorities forecast that the fog in the northern region will continue in the coming days and may affect flights to and from Noi Bai, Tho Xuan, Vinh, and Hai Phong airports.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has requested airlines to promptly update information to passengers in case of flight delays or diversions and to fully perform the airlines' obligations to passengers.
To support passengers when flights are diverted or delayed, airlines arrange transportation from the airport where the plane lands to the local airport according to the itinerary on the ticket.
