Filip Nguyen reveals the process of obtaining Vietnamese citizenship and his emotions when he and Hanoi Police Club won the 2023 V-League championship

Filip Nguyen has achieved success since returning to Vietnam to compete. Recently, he and the Hanoi Police Club won the 2023 V-League championship. In addition, the goalkeeper born in 1992 has a great opportunity to play for the Vietnamese national team as he is about to complete the naturalization process.

Sharing about the possibility of playing for the Vietnamese national team, Filip Nguyen said: "I need to provide additional necessary documents for naturalization, especially the original documents.

I am still in the process of applying for naturalization. The team representative wants me to join the training session in October.

At that time, the Vietnamese team will have 3 friendly matches. However, I need to wait to see if the naturalization procedure will be completed in October. But I believe that the naturalization will definitely be completed by the end of this year."

Filip Nguyen also mentioned the championship with Hanoi Police Club: "When I took a taxi, the driver told me that tomorrow Hanoi Police Club has a chance to win the championship.

I didn't understand what the driver said. After being assisted by the translation tool, I understood the meaning of the word "vo dia" in Vietnamese. And then, the phrase "vo dia" kept 'surrounding' my head.

Before the final match of V-League 2023, Hanoi Police Club only needed one point. We adjusted our tactics appropriately to win the title. For the team, this is the first title after a long wait. I am also very happy to be crowned after only a few months of joining the club.

Throughout the season, you could see how the mood of the Hanoi Police Club changed. After two defeats, the anxiety was evident. However, after the victory against Hanoi FC, we felt much more relieved.

Honestly, I only think I won half the title because I joined the club a few months ago. At that time, we were leading the V-League 2023.

For me, the championship with Hanoi Police Club is no less meaningful than the title I won with Slovacko (Czech Republic National Cup 2021/22 season).

In any case, I have contributed to some extent to the championship of Hanoi Police Club. I have played 7 matches this season. Therefore, I am proud of the first title achieved after returning to Vietnam."

According to the schedule, the Vietnamese team will play three friendly matches in October against China (October 10), Uzbekistan (October 13) and South Korea (October 17).

If he is naturalized in time, Filip Nguyen can debut in one of these matches. Otherwise, he will have to wait until the 2023 Asian Cup in January next year to have the opportunity to wear the Vietnamese national team jersey.
