CNA. Singapore International Cyber Security Week 2023 (SICW 2023) is hosted by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) with the theme “Building Trust and Security in the Emerging Digital Order”.
BANGKOK POST. Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said Thailand will increase the visa-free entry period for Russian tourists from 30 days to 90 days, starting from November 1, 2023 and extending to April 30, 2024.
WHO. Laos has eliminated lymphatic filariasis, also known as elephantiasis, a painful and disabling tropical disease, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
TASS. Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, discussing international and regional issues.
YONHAP. A US B-52 strategic bomber landed in South Korea for the first time, after flying as part of a defense exhibition and conducting joint exercises with South Korean stealth fighters.
YONHAP. South Korea, the United States and Japan have established a trilateral communication hotline, a move that reflects progress in cooperation between the countries.
PTI. India aims to send an astronaut to the Moon by 2040, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi issues directives to the Space Ministry, including plans to build a space station by 2035.
HAMODIA. Jordan's King Abdullah II warned of dire conditions in the Middle East if the conflict between Israel and the Islamist Hamas movement spreads to other countries.

AFP. Some 2,800 military personnel from nine EU member states, along with 25 aircraft and six ships, began a week-long exercise in southern Spain on October 16.
TASS. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that Yerevan is ready to sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan by the end of this year and will ensure the safety of all Azerbaijani citizens on its territory.
REUTERS. Poland's opposition parties won more than 54% of the vote in parliamentary elections held on October 15, according to official election results announced on October 17.
AFP. Observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) have arrived in Switzerland to prepare for a mission related to the general election in the Central European country.
POLITICO. The European Parliament (EP) has backed the EU providing an additional 50 billion euros ($53 billion) over the next four years to help rebuild a Ukraine shaken by Russia's military campaign.
AFP. Azerbaijan will hold joint military exercises with its close ally Turkey from October 23-25 in several different areas such as the capital Baku and the Nakhchivan region.
GUARDIAN. Britain will increase aid to the Palestinian people by £10 million ($12.18 million) to respond to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced.
TVP. Belgian Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden said the suspect in the shooting in Brussels on the evening of October 16 that left two people dead was killed by police.

LE PAIS. The Italian government announced that foreigners living in the country will be able to use the national health service after paying an annual fee of 2,000 euros ($2,109).
ANADOLU. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has said she will not resign after the country's Constitutional Court ruled she violated the constitution by traveling abroad despite a government ban.

CNN. US President Joe Biden is expected to visit Israel today, October 18, at the invitation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to show Washington's support for Tel Aviv.
AP. The administration of US President Joe Biden announced plans to stop transferring advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips produced by Nvidia and many other US technology companies to foreign countries.
CNBC. The US Department of Defense announced that about 2,000 US military officers were placed on high readiness amid the unstable security environment in the Middle East.
RIO NEWS. Water levels in the Amazon River, which flows through the heart of Brazil's rainforest, have dropped to their lowest levels in more than a century amid a severe drought.

DAILY NEWS. Serengeti National Park in Tanzania has been named Africa's Leading National Park for the fifth consecutive year at the World Travel Awards (WTA).
FINACIAL TIMES. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is scheduled to meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in Cairo on October 18, as the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip worsens.
AHRAM. Egypt will host a summit of world leaders to discuss the Gaza conflict on October 21, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said at a joint press conference with his Lebanese counterpart in Beirut.
AFRICA NEWS.The Somali government has launched the Modern Governance Strategic Orientation Programme, aimed at improving public service delivery and enhancing transparency in the state governance system, according to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
AP. The UN peacekeeping mission in Mali ( MINUSMA ) announced the withdrawal of its forces from the West African country, starting to deploy at two camps Tessalit and Aguelhok in the Kidal region.

ABC. Pacific island nation Fiji says it will strengthen defence and security cooperation with Australia as Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka visits Canberra.
KYODO. Japanese Defense Minister Minoru Kihara announced plans to meet his Australian counterpart Richard Marles in Tokyo this weekend to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral security ties.
