The Swallows Collection includes traditional wedding ao dai designs that reflect the national spirit but also have a contemporary feel.
Designer Thuy Nguyen said her designs were inspired by the image of the girl in Da Co Hoai Lang - an immortal work by the late musician Cao Van Lau.
It is the Cai Luong material that creates the catalyst for Thuy Nguyen's creativity, resulting in about 60 new designs.
With the main colors being white, red, pink… Thuy Nguyen applies drawing, hand embroidery, and hand-sewing techniques to create vivid natural paintings on the ao dai.
These are motifs of birds, phoenixes, peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, lotus flowers... arranged harmoniously, making the ao dai more delicate and full of vitality.
Besides traditional Ao Dai designs, Thuy Nguyen also introduces innovative, modern designs that still harmonize traditional elements according to the theme of the collection "Double Swallows".
Accompanying the designs are large turbans, creating a visual highlight for the fashionista.
This is also considered a mark of the cultural exchange between East and West, where traditional ao dai "meets" contemporary emotions.
Runner-up Lam Bich Tuyen opened the show with a flowing ao dai.

"The collection is like a cai luong play, with rhythm, emotion, and cultural depth. The designs also show the intersection between traditional beauty and new creations, honoring the ao dai, while at the same time evoking pride in the national cultural heritage" - designer Thuy Nguyen shared.
The collection Swallows and Swallows was presented within the framework of Vietnam International Fashion Week taking place in Hanoi.
Runner-up Lam Bich Tuyen wore a bright yellow design for the opening performance. The design embroidered with phoenix motifs expressed the pride of the wearer. Runner-up Le Hang wore a white and pink ao dai with lotus motifs for the closing performance.
