Northwest Travel: The enchanting beauty of Phong Du Thuong terraced fields

After months of drought, terraced fields in Phong Du Thuong, Van Yen district, Yen Bai province were awakened by the first summer rain, creating a beautiful scene in the middle of the Northwest mountains and forests.

With the Khe Tau village terraced fields, Cao Son village hot spring, Khe Ban and Khe Mang waterfalls, there are few areas in Van Yen that have as much tourism potential as Phong Du Thuong. This is a land with beautiful natural landscapes and traditional cultural features imbued with the identity of the H'Mong people.

In recent years, local authorities have focused on investing and effectively exploiting tourism potential in a sustainable manner. The total area of ​​terraced fields is estimated at nearly 50 hectares at an altitude of about 1,000 m above sea level. The entire terraced field terrain is located on a high mountainside in Khe Tau village. From here, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire landscape of Phong Du Thuong commune. The climate is relatively harsh, farming in this area is difficult, to adapt to nature, for hundreds of years, the H'Mong people here have always worked hard, enduring the rain and sun with skillful hands, creativity and rudimentary farming tools to turn the highland land into the fertile and majestic terraced towers as today.

According to locals, the flooding season in Phong Du Thuong usually lasts from May to July. Next comes the ripe rice season, from late August to mid-October. That is the time when Phong Du Thuong puts on a new, extremely eye-catching coat with golden "rice fields" reaching to the horizon. Each season, Phong Du Thuong has its own beauty. The flooding season and the ripe rice season are the two most beautiful times, this is also the time when the locality welcomes the most tourists of the year.
