With impressive results, Khanh Hoa tourism industry has reached the finish line 3 months ahead of schedule in 2024, becoming the leading destination in the South Central and Central Highlands regions.
In the first 9 months of the year, Khanh Hoa welcomed 9 million overnight guests, an increase of 57.9% over the same period in 2023; including 3.6 million international visitors, bringing total tourism revenue to over VND 44,138 billion.
This achievement helps Khanh Hoa surpass famous tourist destinations such as Da Nang (8.7 million arrivals), Binh Dinh (over 8 million arrivals), Binh Thuan (7.4 million arrivals), maintaining its leading position in attracting tourists.
Experts say this remarkable development comes from many of Khanh Hoa's existing advantages: diverse nature, temperate climate, 300 sunny days with beautiful coastline, professional tourism services, combined with the quartet of infrastructure: aviation, waterways, railways, roads, etc. After the Ho Chi Minh City - Khanh Hoa expressway opens to traffic, the travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Khanh Hoa will be just over 4 hours.
Along with that, the Buon Ma Thuot – Khanh Hoa expressway is expected to come into operation in 2026, shortening travel time to 1.5 hours, the Lam Dong – Khanh Hoa expressway is deployed in the 2024 – 2028 phase to reduce travel time to less than 2 hours.
These highways open up opportunities to attract tourists from Ho Chi Minh City and the southern and Central Highlands provinces to the coastal city of Khanh Hoa, strongly promoting the development of family tourism, creating a trend of proactive tourism and short-term trips.
Typically, during the April 30 - May 1 holiday, Khanh Hoa tourism market became bustling with the total number of visitors and vacationers reaching over 969,000, the average room occupancy rate of accommodation facilities was nearly 90%. Similarly, during the September 2 holiday, Bai Dai - Cam Ranh tourist areas and closed resorts on the island all recorded room occupancy rates of 70% or more, and many resorts reached over 90%.
