Nowadays, when coming to Ha Giang, tourists not only visit famous destinations such as Dong Van, Meo Vac, Lung Cu Flagpole, Quan Ba Twin Mountains, Ma Pi Leng Peak - Nho Que River, Vuong Family Palace or Happiness Road... but also visit Vi Xuyen Martyrs Cemetery, which has become a destination for spiritual tourism and ancient battlefield tourism in Ha Giang.
Vi Xuyen Martyrs' Cemetery is located next to National Highway 2, in Group 18, Vi Xuyen Town, about 2km from Vi Xuyen District Center, 18km south of Ha Giang City. Vi Xuyen Martyrs' Cemetery is located against the Tay Con Linh mountain range, facing the historic Lo River. The cemetery was built in 1990 and completed in 1991, right after the end of the war to protect the northern border of the Fatherland.
With its cultural and historical value, Vi Xuyen martyrs cemetery is a shining symbol of patriotism and revolutionary heroism of the nation. With more than 1,760 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Vi Xuyen battle buried in the cemetery, we cannot help but be moved by the great and noble sacrifice of the heroic martyrs who fought on this battlefield.
This place is also a red address to educate the revolutionary tradition for today's and future generations about a heroic and glorious fighting period of the Vietnam People's Army, the soldiers did not spare their blood and bones to fight to protect every inch of the Fatherland's border.

The tombstones at Vi Xuyen Martyrs Cemetery are built solemnly, one after another in rows and layers like brothers and comrades standing shoulder to shoulder. The spirit and noble sacrifice of these heroes are still there and are always engraved in the mind of every Vietnamese person.
Every year, on the occasion of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27), the Founding Day of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22) and major national holidays, convoys of cars from the South to the North, from Hanoi and the Northern provinces still regularly carry thousands of tourists here, including relatives, friends, comrades of the deceased, living witnesses of history to revisit the old battlefield, burn incense for comrades who died on this battlefield.
Visitors coming here on these occasions can hear touching stories about comradeship, camaraderie, military-civilian love and the daily life stories of soldiers who fought and sacrificed their lives in the fierce and arduous war at this peak. This place also lets visitors learn more about the history of the nation, about the love of the homeland and the honor and gratitude to the heroes who fell to protect the peace of the country.

In response to the concern, pride and respect for the heroes who fell in the border war to protect the Fatherland in general, and the war at the Vi Xuyen front, Ha Giang in particular, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ha Giang conducted a survey and established a profile for the historical spiritual tourism route "Visiting the old battlefield". In 2017, the People's Committee of Ha Giang province issued a Decision to recognize the local tourism route "Visiting the old battlefield".
Accordingly, the tourist route connects the following points: Vi Xuyen Martyrs Cemetery, the stele of heroic martyrs of Lao Chai commune, Thanh Thuy International Border Gate, the stele of heroic martyrs of Thanh Thuy commune, Doi Cave, Lang Lo Cave, Incense Burner 468, Thanh Son village community cultural village. This is a spiritual tourist route to the source, the main means of transportation are cars, motorbikes or on foot, the total length of the route is about 85km. With mainly mountainous terrain, cool climate, majestic landscape. Typical local products such as: Shan Tuyet tea, Cardamom.
