TPO - I was choked with emotion when I entered the kitchen to cook thousands of meals during the historic flooding days in the suburbs of Hanoi. More than a dozen people prepared the ingredients, cooked and divided the meals, creating a warm atmosphere full of positive energy and love for fellow countrymen.
In recent days, in Dong Dau and Dun villages (Tot Dong commune, Chuong My district, Hanoi), there has been a kitchen that is always bustling with the laughter of women and mothers. |
This is a volunteer kitchen that has served thousands of meals in the past few days to people in the flooded areas of Chuong My district (Hanoi). It is known that all ingredients and cooking costs were donated by everyone and benefactors to support the flooded areas. |
The menu was revealed to reporters by the chef. |
The kitchen was the brainchild of Nguyen Thi Duong and her sister Nguyen Thi Thoa after seeing many neighboring families in the village submerged in floodwaters, without electricity or water for cooking. |
Not only that, the two sisters Duong and Thoa also called on Ms. Bui Thi Dung and many other people to join in cooking for people in flooded areas. |
This charity kitchen not only provides 2 meals a day for villages such as Dong Dau Village, Dun Village... but also provides hundreds of meals for the pagoda in Thuan Luong Commune to distribute to people in the flooded area caused by storm No. 3. |
Rice and soup are boxed and sealed in plastic like in restaurants before being delivered to households. |
A delicious tray of food with a rich menu cooked with love for fellow countrymen in difficult times becomes even more precious. |
On peak days, the kitchen provides from 900 to 1,000 meals to people. |
Currently in Chuong My district (Hanoi city), there are still many areas that are deeply flooded. Electricity and water are currently unavailable. |
This flooding is expected to last for about another week. |
