Donny van de Beek joined Man Utd in 2020 for £40m but the Dutch midfielder has only started 6 times in the Premier League out of 62 appearances for the "Red Devils".
This season, Van de Beek has only made two appearances for Man Utd, both from the bench, in the match against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and Carabao Cup.
With the January 2024 transfer window officially open, the 26-year-old has completed a loan move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
Accordingly, the majority of Van de Beek's salary will be paid by the German team. Eintracht Frankfurt also has the option to buy this midfielder for about £9.5 million plus £2.6 million in additional fees after the loan contract ends.
The German side are currently sixth in the Bundesliga and are in the Europa Conference League play-offs, where they will face Union Saint-Gilloise.
Van de Beek has struggled with various injuries throughout his time at Man Utd, leading to him being limited in playing time.
The Dutch midfielder played 36 games in all competitions in his first season but he could only make no more than 14 appearances in the following seasons.
The Netherlands international has scored two goals since arriving at Old Trafford in 2020, despite previously performing well at Ajax Amsterdam.
This is the second time Van de Beek has left Man Utd on loan. Previously, he played on loan at Everton in the 2021/22 season.
In his new environment, the Dutch midfielder chose to wear the number 25 shirt. He hopes to help the Bundesliga team win a ticket to the Champions League next season.
Van de Beek's departure is a reasonable solution for all parties in the current situation. The player wants to quickly regain his form to attend Euro 2024.
Van de Beek's current contract with MU will expire in the summer of 2025. Therefore, the English team is also looking to sell him early to collect the transfer fee.
