On February 21 (January 12), thousands of people from Mai Phu commune, Loc Ha district (Ha Tinh province) carried trays of banh chung to participate in a contest on the death anniversary of King Mai Hac De.

According to annual tradition, on January 12 and 13, people in Mai Phu commune, Loc Ha (Ha Tinh province) solemnly celebrate the death anniversary of King Mai Hac De. This year, people in the whole commune wrapped 2,000 banh chung to offer to the "Black King".
Many people from Son Phu village, Mai Phu commune, Loc Ha, Ha Tinh were present at the village cultural house to carefully prepare for the important local ceremony.
Mr. Nguyen Duc He (head of Son Phu village) said: "We try to carefully select ingredients to present to the king. The best banh chung is to thank him for always protecting the villagers, helping them have favorable weather and bumper crops. This year, our village wrapped more than 300 banh chung. After presenting to the king, these banh chung were distributed to the villagers to enjoy the benefits."
Thousands of people in 7 villages of Mai Phu commune (Loc Ha district, Ha Tinh province) together brought hundreds of trays of banh chung, moving to the temple of King Mai Hac De. This is one of a series of activities on the occasion of the 1,300th anniversary of the death of this king.

Those chosen to carry the offerings were dressed politely, women wore traditional ao dai.
Men will wear traditional long dresses or white shirts with dark pants. Each person will carry a tray of offerings on their heads, each tray containing 4 banh chung and covered with a food cover to ensure hygiene.

As people take turns bringing offerings, another team will be assigned the task of receiving and arranging the cakes in front of the altars.
The most delicious and beautiful banh chung are chosen to be presented to the king. At the end of the ceremony, banh chung and other offerings will be given to guests and villagers, which means enjoying the king's blessings.
