Dead water level drained simultaneously, Northern hydroelectric reservoirs basically meet electricity demand from today

The Department of Industrial Safety Techniques and Environment said that on June 23, the water flow to hydroelectric reservoirs in the Northern and Central Highlands regions was stable and increased slightly compared to yesterday; the flow in the Southeast region was low, while the water flow in the North Central and South Central Coast regions decreased slightly, within the minimum water level according to the operating procedure.

According to the assessment of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), in recent days, the water flow to the hydropower reservoirs in the North has improved, the current water level of Son La, Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, Ban Chat reservoirs have all accumulated 4 to 7 meters higher than the dead water level. Lai Chau has a small reservoir so the water level is approximately 15 meters higher than the dead water level. However, currently, these reservoirs are still limiting mobilization to prepare for the next heat wave.

Water flow forecast for the next 24 hours to lakes in the Northern region will increase slightly; in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions, it will fluctuate slightly; in the North Central region and South Central Coast, it will decrease slightly, at a low level.

The water flow of hydroelectric reservoirs is stable, increasing compared to yesterday such as: Lai Chau reservoir: 545 m3/s; Son La reservoir: 871 m3/s; Hoa Binh reservoir: 572 m3/s; Thac Ba reservoir: 80 m3/s; Tuyen Quang reservoir: 253 m3/s; Ban Chat reservoir: 192.2 m3/s.

EVN said that from today, June 23, the Northern power system will basically meet the demand for electricity. The reason is that in recent days, the water level of hydroelectric reservoirs has been raised, and some thermal power plants that encountered problems have been fixed.

Along with that, thanks to the close, drastic and timely direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises and the sharing and coordination of leaders of provinces and cities, the electricity supply situation has been positively improved.

It is worth mentioning that energy enterprises such as Vietnam National Coal and Minerals, Dong Bac Corporation, and Oil and Gas have coordinated in providing fuel (coal, gas) for electricity production and maintaining the operation of generators.

However, because the Northern power system does not have reserve capacity, extreme situations may still occur in the coming time, leading to load adjustment and power reduction.
