Halfway through implementing the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels in the context of many difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee and the government of Dong Hung district have focused on leading and directing the synchronous and drastic implementation of economic development solutions, creating breakthroughs in all fields, contributing to improving people's lives.
Lan Phu Labor Protection Production and Trading Company Limited (Dong La Industrial Park, Dong Hung) provides jobs for 450 workers.
Investment in developing industrial clusters
Lan Phu Labor Protection Production and Trading Company Limited has been operating in Dong La Industrial Park (CCN) for nearly 2 years, always maintaining stable production of household goods such as bags, boxes, pot holders, leather shoes... for export, creating jobs for over 400 workers, with a salary of 6 - 8 million VND/person/month.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Duan, Director of the Company, shared: Production in a narrow residential area, goods do not meet export standards to the US, so the Company decided to move to Dong La Industrial Park. With the support and facilitation of the district and infrastructure investors, the Company quickly completed the documents, built a spacious, airy factory, and invested in modern machinery. Transporting goods, attracting skilled workers, working environment, overtime... are all convenient, so the capacity and quality of products are improved, meeting export standards to demanding markets such as Europe and the US. On average, the Company produces 60,000 pairs of shoes and 100,000 other products per month, achieving revenue of billions of VND. The Company strives to export 1 million USD to the US market in 2023.
In recent times, Dong Hung district has promoted planning, investment in infrastructure construction, and development of industrial parks to attract businesses scattered in localities and rural areas to organize concentrated production, green and sustainable production.
Mr. Vu Anh Tuan, Director of the District's Center for Land Fund and Industrial Cluster Development, said: From 2021 to now, Dong Hung district has attracted 5 investors in industrial park infrastructure, completed the establishment and detailed planning of 9/9 concentrated industrial parks with a total area of 515.7 hectares, attracted 137 investment projects, of which 122 projects have gone into production and business, creating jobs for over 12,000 workers, with workers' income in the industrial park ranging from 5 to 10 million VND/month. Not only giving strong direction, promptly handing over the cleanest land to businesses to implement projects, reforming administrative procedures, every year the district leaders organize meetings and dialogues with businesses to promptly support, remove difficulties and obstacles, creating conditions for businesses to maintain and develop production and business. The district's industrial and handicraft production value in the 2021 - 2023 period is estimated to reach over 23,000 billion VND, reaching 51.1% of the set plan.
Many secondary projects invested in Dong La industrial cluster have come into operation, creating jobs for thousands of workers.
Sustainable development of professions and craft villages
In Dong Hung district, there are currently 9 craft villages in 5 communes being maintained and developed, and many traditional and newly introduced crafts are making unique, environmentally friendly products, exported to many countries such as weaving water hyacinth, sedge straws, rattan and bamboo... The production value from the crafts and craft villages is large, creating jobs for many idle agricultural workers, contributing to changing the face of the villages, and increasing income for rural people. In particular, the confectionery craft village in Nguyen Xa commune is bustling all year round with over 1,500 participating households, including nearly 100 large production and business establishments. Thanks to the development of confectionery production, especially fish cake - a brand not only in Nguyen Xa but also in Thai Binh, Nguyen Xa has become one of the leading communes in economic development of the district. In particular, Nguyen Xa's Nguyen village confectionery has 11 products from 2 establishments recognized by the province as 4-star OCOP - the craft village with the most OCOP products in the province.
Mr. Tran Van Duc, owner of Thien Duc confectionery processing workshop in Nguyen Xa commune, said: Initially, the workshop produced by hand and sold in small quantities, but now Thien Duc fish cakes are present all over the country, with 5 products achieving 4-star OCOP. To maintain and develop the traditional profession and increase competitiveness, the family has invested billions of dong to expand the workshop, buy a modern machinery system to produce cakes on an automatic line; improve designs, reduce product sizes to make it convenient for everyone to enjoy cakes, and preserve them longer. The workshop currently produces 30 tons/month, creating jobs for over 70 workers.
Weaving water hyacinth for export in Minh Phu commune (Dong Hung) is a new profession but is expanding to other localities.
Safe, large-scale livestock farming
While many people left their fields to do other jobs to get rich, Mr. Bui Van Tuan, Ha Giang commune, left his job as a tourist transport worker and returned to his hometown to invest billions of dong in renting land, building solid barns, planting elephant grass, and raising commercial cows. Mr. Tuan shared: Since 2020, I have accumulated 3 hectares, built barns on an area of nearly 2 hectares to raise 55 breeding cows and calves, I always keep female calves to increase the herd, and on the remaining area, I grow elephant grass as feed for cows. To prevent diseases for livestock and ensure the environment, I often use biological bedding to treat cow manure, buy straw to reserve for cows to eat, both saving costs and contributing to reducing environmental pollution. I installed cameras around the farm to support the management, monitor the condition of the cows, the care and feeding process of workers, and prevent theft.
Mr. Tuan's farm was selected by Dong Hung district as one of the two "core farms" to implement the project of developing commercial buffalo and cow herds according to the chain linkage in the period of 2019 - 2025 and the following years, so the district has paid attention and provided timely support for the farm to develop. The district is also focusing on directing the development of livestock farming in the direction of farms and households associated with biosafety farming, raising high-quality, productive cattle and poultry, and doing a good job of disease prevention and control. Up to now, the whole district has 84 livestock farms, 2 cooperatives and 4 livestock cooperatives with a total herd of 2.2 million animals.
Fast and sustainable economic development
With synchronous and flexible solutions, after half a term of implementing the Resolution of the 16th District Party Congress and the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels, Dong Hung has basically achieved the set goals and targets, including some exceeding targets. The average economic growth rate in the period of 2021 - 2023 reached 10.7%/year, exceeding the target set by the Congress. In the three main areas, the average production value of agriculture and fishery increased by 2.9%/year (the Congress target was 2.86%), especially the industrial production value increased by 18.3%/year (the Congress target was 14.38%). The average income per capita of the district in 2023 is estimated at 61 million VND/year. The district also focused on drastic direction, issued many support mechanisms to create conditions for localities to accelerate the progress of building advanced new rural areas.
Mr. To Xuan Thuc, Chairman of the District People's Committee, said: In the remaining half of the term, Dong Hung will continue to persevere in implementing the goal: Exploiting all resources, developing the economy quickly and sustainably, associated with ensuring social security. On that basis, the district will continue to promote the development of concentrated agricultural production areas with local specialty products, build OCOP products, link agricultural production with the development of eco-tourism, experience and community tourism. Do a good job of site clearance, attract investment to fill industrial parks. Along with that, focus on developing the trade and service sectors, deploying the construction of urban areas approved by the province...
