Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee inspected the response to storm No. 3

On the afternoon of September 7, comrade Pham Quang Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue (PCTT and TKCN) inspected the work of preventing and fighting storm No. 3 in Yen Khanh and Kim Son districts.

Accompanying him were comrade Tran Song Tung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue; leaders of a number of relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc inspected the actual work of preventing and fighting storm No. 3 at the Cong Cai Pumping Station, Yen Khanh District; the operation of Au Kim Dai, the on-duty work of forces at the posts on Binh Minh 3 dike, Kim Son District and listened to members of the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue report on the response to the storm.

Accordingly, as of 9:00 a.m. this morning (September 7), the amount of rainfall measured in the province was not high, the wind level was at level 7-8, gusting to level 9. Thanks to timely reinforcement, all dike works were secured against the storm. Districts and cities have maintained readiness to protect key points, drain water, reinforce houses, and pump out buffer water. The call for boats and people to evacuate to safe shelters was completed before 3:00 p.m. on September 6.

Through the on-site inspection and listening to the report, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Quang Ngoc acknowledged and highly appreciated the initiative and responsibility of local Party committees and authorities in leadership and direction to ensure unity, synchronization, close, smooth and effective consultation, coordination and cooperation between forces.

In particular, in the propaganda work, he also highly appreciated the coordination between localities and news agencies and newspapers to promptly reflect and provide fast and accurate information, contributing to raising people's awareness of proactively implementing storm prevention and control measures. Therefore, although storm No. 3 did not directly make landfall in Ninh Binh, the forces still clearly demonstrated their initiative and readiness to implement the plans and scenarios that had been developed, without any negligence or subjectivity.

According to forecasts, the circulation of storm No. 3 is very wide and unpredictable, so the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested members of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and localities to continue to closely monitor the storm's developments, especially the rain and flood situation on rivers, in which the focus is still on the two districts of Nho Quan and Gia Vien to proactively deploy timely flood control plans.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested the Provincial Industrial Park Management Board and the Provincial Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited to organize the operation of pumping stations well, especially the two pumping stations in Gian Khau Industrial Park and Khanh Phu Industrial Park, to prevent flooding from affecting the production activities of enterprises.

Focus on checking landslide and flooding points to have timely and appropriate handling measures. Forces continue to maintain 24/7 duty, ready to carry out tasks when situations arise.

Local Party committees, authorities, news agencies and newspapers continue to strengthen information and propaganda work so that people can proactively implement measures to overcome the effects of storms and floods, and soon stabilize their lives and production.
