Before the afternoon training session of November 12 of the Vietnam team at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi), Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong met and encouraged the spirit of coach Philippe Troussier and his team before the whole team left for the Philippines to compete in the opening match of the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
Accompanying Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong were Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Dang Ha Viet, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Anh Tu and Deputy Secretary General of the VFF Nguyen Minh Chau.
Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, on behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, praised the training spirit and efforts of Coach Troussier and his team throughout the preparation process for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Football Federation encourage the Vietnamese team.
Coach Troussier is about to enter his first official match with the Vietnamese team.
Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong affirmed that the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Physical Training and Sports always closely monitor the training process of the team, and at the same time believe that the team will achieve good results in the first two matches of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, first of all, the away match against the Philippines team on November 16 and then the match against the Iraq team on November 21 at home.
Responding to the encouragement of Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, Coach Troussier shared: "The whole team is fully aware of the importance of the upcoming match. During the past time, we have focused on training and are ready to face the challenge. The whole team is determined to make continuous efforts for the progress of Vietnamese football with the highest goal being the World Cup. We hope to continue to receive support from everyone."
On behalf of the whole team, captain Que Ngoc Hai affirmed that recently, the Vietnamese team has been working hard and focusing on preparing for the two upcoming matches. The whole team promises to try to play with concentration and determination to achieve the best results.
The Vietnamese team left for the Philippines on the morning of November 13.
Tomorrow morning (November 13), the team will take a flight from Hanoi to Manila to prepare for the match against the Philippines team on November 16. In the past few days, coach Philippe Troussier has also implemented a training program on artificial turf to help his players adapt well when competing at the home team's Rizal Memorial Stadium.
In addition, in Manila, the team will have 3 more training sessions to get used to the weather and field conditions, determined to aim for victory in the opening match, thereby creating psychological momentum for the reception of strong opponent Iraq at home stadium My Dinh on November 21.
