The Vietnamese team entered the second training session in November, to prepare for two matches against the Philippines (November 16) and Iraq (November 21) in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
Before the first training session - closed - last night (November 6), coach Philippe Troussier held a meeting with the whole team to discuss tactics, pointed out the shortcomings of his players in the previous friendly matches in October, and at the same time gave directions for the next phase of play. That is to continue to play with ball control, with higher tactical requirements to meet the performance requirements.
In tonight's training session (November 7), the French coach continued to have his students diligently practice passing and moving skills, with greater difficulty and more intense training.
The Vietnamese team players were divided into 3 groups, each group consisting of 10 to 12 players taking turns to practice passing the ball and moving continuously in a narrow space.
Players are required to pass, run, and receive the ball in a directional manner to facilitate the next step.
Vo Nguyen Hoang is one of the players not on the Vietnamese national team, but was called up to the team to practice with his seniors.
Assistant Moulay constantly reminded the players to focus, perform each movement accurately and meticulously.
Players, whether experienced or young, are required to be very strict. Those who do not meet the standards will not be highly appreciated, thus narrowing the door to the main team. Bui Tien Dung (middle) has just been called up as an additional player.
Tuan Anh is the only face of HAGL to be called up to the Vietnam national team.
Coach Troussier regularly communicates with his assistants to evaluate the quality of his students' exercises.
Center back Bui Hoang Viet Anh shared: "The Vietnamese team has spent a long time training together, I personally think the team will not encounter many difficulties. The whole team has prepared for the upcoming match. Playing on artificial turf will create some difficulties but we have to adapt to the conditions of the tournament."
The Vietnamese team will practice until November 13, then go to the Philippines to prepare for the competition.
