(Dan Tri) - Coach Hector Souto (Spain) of the Indonesian futsal team was once the assistant coach of the Vietnamese futsal team and head coach of the Vietnamese U20 futsal team.
Mr. Hector Souto was an assistant to coach Bruno Garcia (Spanish) of the Vietnamese futsal team, participating in the 2015 Southeast Asian Championship in Thailand and the 2016 World Cup finals in Colombia. At that time, Mr. Hector Souto was an assistant in charge of fitness.
After the 2016 World Cup, coach Bruno Garcia left the Vietnam futsal team to take charge of the Japan team. Mr. Hector Souto later led the Vietnam U20 futsal team (in 2017) and the Cao Bang futsal club.

After leaving Vietnam, the Spanish coach went to Indonesia to lead Binang Timur Surabaya Club. He helped the team win the Indonesian futsal championship in 2021 and 2022. Also during this time, Binang Timur Surabaya team of coach Hector Souto won the Southeast Asian futsal club championship.
Thanks to the above achievements, last August, Coach Hector Souto was appointed by the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) as head coach of the Indonesian futsal team, with the goal of participating in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and the Southeast Asian Championship.
Since the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games have been canceled, this year, coach Hector Souto and the Indonesian team only have one task left: to "hunt" for the regional championship.

As a former fitness coach, Mr. Hector Souto knows how to help Indonesian players play very flexibly and not be afraid of collision. This is also one of the strongest points of the Indonesian futsal team.
In addition, Mr. Hector Souto is no stranger to the current assistant coaches of the Vietnam futsal team such as Huynh Tan Quoc and Nguyen Tuan Anh. The head coach of the Indonesian team also knows well the captain Pham Duc Hoa of the Vietnam futsal team.
When Mr. Hector Souto was still an assistant to coach Bruno Garcia at the Vietnam futsal team, Pham Duc Hoa was just a young player with great potential.
At that time, the number one choice for the Fixo position (similar to the sweeper position in 11-a-side football) of the Vietnam futsal team was former player Tran Van Vu, not Pham Duc Hoa.
