The Vietnamese women's volleyball team had a dream start with a 3-2 victory (22-25, 19-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-13) against the strongest team in the group, Korea, at the 2023 Asian Volleyball Championship held in Thailand.

With this victory, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team have a great chance to win first place in Group C when the two remaining opponents, Uzbekistan and Taiwan (China), are both considered weaker.

After the match, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet revealed that setter Lam Oanh had a fever but still played well with high determination and this was also one of the factors that helped the Vietnamese team win against Korea.

In addition, another setter, Kim Thoa, also had health problems but still played her best in the match against Korea.

Coach Nguyen Tuan Liet shared: "Until now, I still get goosebumps when talking about the match. I feel like I was playing directly on the field. The players tried with more than 100% of their strength to have this wonderful victory."

Evaluating the positions on the field, Coach Tuan Kiet said: "Thanh Thuy is still the leader, but in this match there are many athletes who can share the fire, especially Kieu Trinh.

In fact, Kieu Trinh was caught by the Korean players in the first two sets, but then the coaching staff made adjustments so she played better.

Korea showed that they studied us very carefully and did not play subjectively. But the whole team played with the highest effort, a great spirit to win."

Regarding the opportunity to finish first in Group C to have many advantages when entering round 2, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet affirmed that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will focus on the two matches against Uzbekistan and Taiwan (China), especially the final match of the group stage against Taiwan (China) which is of key importance.
