DNVN - Sharing at the workshop "Open Social Innovation" on the morning of November 5, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh - Director of the Institute for Management and Sustainable Development (MSD) said that more than 90% of businesses believe that open social innovation brings businesses sustainable business opportunities.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop “Social Open Innovation” with the theme “Mobilizing social resources to promote innovation in the community”, Mr. Pham Hong Quat - Director of the Department of Market Development and Science and Technology Enterprises (Ministry of Science and Technology) highly appreciated the companionship and support of MSD United Way Vietnam - Head of Techfest Social Open Innovation Village during the time of promoting open innovation activities, especially the social pillar. Thereby, contributing to building a national startup and innovation ecosystem.
The gathering of leading experts in the field at the workshop demonstrates the potential of mobilizing collective resources and promoting multi-stakeholder cooperation to create social impact through science and technology.
Representing the Organizing Committee of the conference, Dr. Sonya Anderson - Executive Vice President of United Way Worldwide, emphasized the importance of an international forum to share good practices, connect and open up future cooperation opportunities for all parties.
“At United Way, we believe deeply in the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration to create collective impact towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in the context of globalization and complex issues. By working together, we can leverage each other’s strengths and tap into more resources, talents and ideas,” Dr. Sonya Anderson emphasized.

The conference is a place to share knowledge, learn from each other and build partnerships across borders. At the same time, create positive and sustainable changes for the community.
Also at the event, for the first time, key findings in the report “Innovation and Entrepreneurship towards SDGs - International models and lessons for Vietnam” were shared.
Accordingly, affirming the role of innovation in the community, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Linh - Director of the Institute for Sustainable Development Management (MSD) said that 85% of enterprises participating in the survey to develop the report have integrated all or part of the SDGs into the organization's operations. In addition, more than 90% of enterprises believe that open social innovation gives enterprises the opportunity to create sustainable business value; positively impacting society and the environment.
“These findings confirm that open social innovation is not just a trend that comes and goes, but also a method and approach for businesses to grow effectively and sustainably. This process requires businesses to be open to connecting with stakeholders, especially the State, social organizations, institutes and the community,” said Ms. Linh.
