In order to improve the reliability of power supply, meet the growth rate of load and minimize power outages for customers, Quang Tri Power Company (PC Quang Tri) has prioritized the application of advanced technologies in production and business activities, especially applying maintenance and repair technology (without power outages) on the operating power grid system, abbreviated as hotline, to its work.

The first hotline team of PC Quang Tri was established in 2018 with 8 members. Due to work requirements, PC Quang Tri has now established a second hotline team specializing in repairing, maintaining, and replacing all equipment belonging to the grid infrastructure on the grid that is transmitting electricity throughout Quang Tri province. In order for the hotline team to operate safely and effectively, PC Quang Tri focuses on training human resources and preparing infrastructure and equipment for hot power repair work.
Mr. Le Van Thang, Deputy Head of the Quang Tri PC Hotline Team, said: “Currently, the team has 8 members, including 1 engineer and 7 hotline workers selected from 500 workers of the unit. The members are sent for 3-month training on hot repair of the power grid with contents related to electrical safety procedures, procedures for performing construction and repair of the power grid operating at 22kV voltage; practical lessons on controlling insulating bucket trucks, replacing vertical porcelain, anchor porcelain, crossbeams, offset beams, handling frayed wires, replacing isolating switches, self-falling fuses and erecting poles on the 22kV medium voltage grid from no electricity to electricity...”.
To witness the work of the Quang Tri PC Hotline Team, we were arranged by Mr. Thang to follow their car to carry out the task according to the work plan in Cam Nghia commune, Cam Lo district. This time the team's job was to install a grounding cluster to serve the overhaul of the 22kV line from the district center to the Cua area.
According to Mr. Thang, this was not a difficult task compared to the tasks the hotline team had done before. However, the weather that day was bad due to the impact of storm No. 3, so all work had to be carried out urgently and absolutely safely. Following the hotline team's preparations, I realized that there was a special principle of caution.
First is the part of handing over the power grid, checking the number of people and assigning tasks. Because this is the first safety principle that every member of the team must absolutely comply with. That is the installation of camera equipment to monitor the entire work of the hotline team; the on-duty staff of Cam Lo Power Company implements safety measures to allow the hot electricity repair team to get to work.
Next, I saw worker Nguyen Trung Thanh carefully use a cloth to clean each hotline insulation bar, each insulation sheet covering the line... All preparations were carried out methodically, carefully, and in accordance with the safety principles set forth by the electricity industry to protect the assets and lives of the collective and individuals in the industry.
After installing the line grounding cluster in Cua, the task of the Quang Tri PC Hotline Team will be to separate the line, reduce the scope of power outages for customers in the 22kV line overhaul project in Khe Sanh town, Huong Hoa district; handle damaged points on the grid, increase line contact along Le Thanh Tong street...
It is known that in the first 8 months of 2024, the Quang Tri PC Hotline Team handled 267 cases to meet the requirements of the company's production and business tasks. Through meeting and talking with Mr. Thang and the hotline workers, we learned more about the hardships and dangers in the work that they often encounter. Once selected to join the hotline team, your work and tasks are clearly defined. If there is an order to go, day or night, morning or afternoon, if an incident occurs anywhere, you must go to carry out the task.
However, besides the hard work, the members of the hotline team also receive the love of the people where they come to perform their duties, especially the surprise and gratitude of the people when witnessing the team's work.
Mr. Thang said: “I still remember a hot afternoon in Cua Tung town, Vinh Linh district, because of work requirements, we had to work right at 12 noon. It was hot, the work was urgent, we had to take turns for 15 minutes to change a team to handle the problem. At that time, many people came to see us working and they were surprised and said: “Usually when we fix the electricity, we have to cut off the power, but why are you guys fixing the electricity now but my house is still lit, the fan is still running in the middle of the hot summer noon. You guys are really good, fixing the electricity without cutting off the power”. They were amazed and brought cool water and fruit from their houses to invite us.”
The gratitude and admiration of the people reflects the nature and characteristics of hot electrical repair and is the encouragement and motivation for the working spirit and enthusiastic dedication of the members of the Quang Tri PC Hotline Team.

Every year, these workers are trained to improve their skills, expertise and experience. In fact, the work of PC Quang Tri Hotline Team has brought positive results.
In addition to ensuring continuous power supply to serve customers, it also helps the unit improve the power supply reliability index, maintain power growth, meet the goal of ensuring safe and high-quality power supply, contributing to the successful completion of the company's production and business targets.
