According to ancient documents kept in the residential group, the fig tree was planted about 300 years ago, in the spiritual cultural complex of Huong Pagoda and the temple of General Leu Van Minh, which has been ranked as a national historical relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information.

The fig tree is where villagers sit to rest after returning from work in the fields and organize recreational activities during each festival. Mr. Nguyen Van Toan - Head of Huong residential group said, with that meaning, on August 25, 2021, the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association decided to recognize the fig tree as an "Ancient tree with historical and cultural value".

“Due to the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic, the traditional festival of Huong Pagoda taking place in January of the year of Quy Mao 2023, the officials and people of the residential group organized to announce the decision,” Mr. Toan shared.
