In recent years, with the increasing demand for industrial automation, the number and sales of global industrial robots have been continuously increasing.
According to the “World Robot Report 2023” released by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), global industrial robot sales exceeded 500,000 units for the second consecutive year in 2022, up 5% year-on-year.
Of which, China is the world's largest robot market, in 2022, industrial robot sales in this country's market accounted for more than half of the world's total output.
Statistics show that industrial robot applications have now been applied in 60 major industries and 168 medium-sized industries in China's national economy. The Northeast Asian country has become the world's largest industrial robot market for 10 consecutive years.
In 2022, China's industrial robot output reached 443,000 units, up more than 20% year-on-year, and its installed capacity accounted for more than 50% of the global market share. According to data from IFR, in 2022, the number of industrial robots installed by the world's second largest economy reached about 290,000, up 5% year-on-year.
In order to serve a dynamic market like China, domestic and foreign robot suppliers have continuously invested in building factories in the country and constantly increasing production capacity, said Marina Beale, President of the International Federation of Robotics.
Chen Dan, deputy secretary general of the Robot Branch of the China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF), said that by 2022, the industrial robot market of Asia's No. 1 economy will account for 52% of the global market. It is worth noting that over the past 10 years, the number of autonomous industrial robots produced in this country has increased rapidly, and nearly half of the economy has applied domestically produced branded robots.
With the rapid development of China's robot industry, more and more domestic industrial robot companies are accelerating their overseas expansion. According to IFR, in 2023, the country's industrial robot exports hit a new record of 118,300 sets.
Hot-selling robot products abroad are mainly used in home appliance manufacturing, automobile manufacturing, communications electronics, logistics and warehousing... In addition, applications in the semiconductor and new energy industries are also developing rapidly.
With the recovery of the global economy, labor costs in developed countries have increased and the efficiency of using robots has improved, in the coming time, countries around the world will attach more importance to the robot industry.
In the future, there will be more industries and application scenarios developed in the Chinese market, and there will be a large space for the robot industry to develop. Therefore, China will still play a supporting role in the development of the global robot industry.
