According to Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong, with more than 900,000 operating enterprises, more than 14,400 cooperatives and more than 5 million business households, they have formed a powerful force promoting Vietnam's economic development. The private economic sector is contributing about 50% to the country's GDP, creating jobs for more than 80% of the country's workforce and making an important contribution to the country's economic development. Currently, Vietnam's GDP is in the top 40 in the world, and its international trade is in the top 20 in the world.
"The Vietnamese business community with its entrepreneurial spirit, efforts to overcome difficulties and strong aspirations to rise up have demonstrated increasingly clear social responsibility, ethics and business culture. Vietnamese businesspeople and enterprises are growing stronger and gradually affirming their role and position not only domestically but also reaching out to the world market. Many products are gradually affirming their brand value in the regional and world markets.
These will be typical enterprises, spreading the pioneering spirit, contributing to changing the face of the country, creating an impression, enhancing the position and reputation of "made by Vietnam" products in the international arena. At the same time, the pioneering enterprise force also plays a pivotal role, leading and creating leverage to develop many industries and fields. Thereby, bringing the Vietnamese economy to self-reliance, towards sustainable development" - Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong emphasized.
Currently, in the context of a basically stable macro-economy and continued positive changes, the Vietnamese economy has regained growth momentum and achieved important and quite comprehensive results in all fields. Production and business activities have shown positive signs of change. However, there are still many risks and challenges ahead.
According to Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong, one of the major challenges today is climate change, natural disasters, and complex epidemics that continue to have a major impact on production and business. Consumption trends and market demands for sustainable production and business are increasing.
With nearly 98% of enterprises being small and medium-sized, due to limitations in scale, capacity, management level, etc., most Vietnamese private enterprises have not yet fully recognized, cared about, and invested appropriately in sustainable business plans and strategies. This leads to the risk of losing opportunities to participate and move deeper into the global value chain.
Besides, he said, it is also necessary to recognize and appreciate a force of businesses that proactively innovate to catch up with trends, pioneer in promoting investment, innovating technology, business models towards green economy, circular economy... These are the new economic sectors that create new values, new driving forces for economic growth.
Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong said that as an advisory body on socio-economic development strategies, over the years, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has actively and proactively advised the Government and the Prime Minister to issue mechanisms and policies to promote and support enterprises to improve their competitiveness and strengthen their internal capacity. At the same time, it promotes the pioneering spirit of enterprises and encourages enterprises to transform into sustainable business models. Thereby, contributing to enhancing competitiveness, creating a foundation for sustainable development of enterprises, better meeting international standards and participating deeply in global supply chains.
