As the world faces pressure to reduce emissions and achieve sustainability, digitalization and AI are emerging as indispensable tools to help industry realize its Net Zero goal by 2050.
Forrester's (USA) Data and Analytics Survey 2022 shows that 73% of data and analytics decision makers are building AI technology, 74% recorded positive impact in the business.
IDC research also shows that industrial companies that pursue sustainability strategically, combined with a long-term digital transformation program, significantly outperform their competitors. Accordingly, the combination of digitalization and AI not only helps businesses optimize production, reduce energy consumption but also maintain competitiveness, ensuring a more sustainable and intelligent manufacturing future.

In fact, digitalization is now making strong strides thanks to the combination of intelligent operating software and AI technology. Capital-intensive sectors such as manufacturing, energy, and logistics are recording clear results in productivity, customer engagement, cost reduction, and increased sustainability.
Regarding this, Mr. Le Dong - Vice Chairman of the Innovation Council, Director of the Technology Center, Vietnam National Shipping Lines Corporation said: “We have reduced 70-80% of paperwork in port operations and exploitation. For example, we have checked units and vehicles entering and leaving the port remotely. When arriving at the gate, drivers and customers do not have to get off to present paperwork. We have reduced the amount of printed paperwork, which means reducing carbon emissions. Second, we have a measurement index which is the time it takes for vehicles to return to the port. The fact that vehicles operate less and take less time means we have reduced fuel consumption.”
According to experts, as resources become increasingly depleted, AI applications not only bring economic benefits through saving electricity, but also contribute to environmental protection and sustainable development. At the same time, digital transformation implemented through AI-supported software applications is making great strides in enhancing customer engagement, increasing productivity, improving sustainability and saving costs in industries requiring large investments such as manufacturing, electricity, water and logistics, etc.
“We believe that digitalization and AI will be the key drivers for energy transition in the manufacturing industry by reducing energy consumption, optimizing the energy mix to reduce emissions, and breaking down barriers to renewable energy conversion, thereby promoting sustainable development,” added Mr. Dong Mai Lam.
