On May 27, according to information from the Nghe An Provincial Statistics Office, in the first 4 months of 2024, the locality had 672 newly established enterprises, an increase of 2.44% over the same period in 2023, with a total registered capital of VND 12,600 billion, an increase of 2.5 times. The number of newly established branches, representative offices, and business locations was 254 units, an increase of 2% (5 units); 368 enterprises resumed operations; 43 branches, representative offices, and business locations resumed operations.

Meanwhile, the number of enterprises registering to temporarily suspend operations was 888, an increase of 21.31% (an increase of 156 enterprises) compared to the same period; the number of branches, representative offices, and business locations registering to temporarily suspend operations was 89 units. The number of dissolved enterprises was 75 enterprises.

Speaking to reporters, the leader of the Department of Planning and Investment of Nghe An province said that the fact that nearly 900 businesses requested to temporarily suspend operations in the first 4 months of the year in the area is alarming.

“When businesses stop operating, the total social product decreases. Workers’ jobs are affected, the unemployment rate increases, or tax and budget revenues decrease. Authorities need to have solutions to quickly remove difficulties for businesses to resume operations, avoiding long-term damage,” this leader shared.

According to this person, many businesses are currently facing difficulties in borrowing capital, many borrowed assets have been mortgaged to banks and cannot be mortgaged again to have capital to resume operations.

Particularly, trade and service activities in the area in the first 4 months of the year continued to maintain growth momentum, many stimulus, connection and trade promotion programs were implemented to boost production, helping manufacturers connect with the distribution system to consumers.

Accordingly, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in April of this province is estimated at more than 11,200 billion VND, equal to 72.58% compared to the previous month, up 25.75% over the same period in 2023.

Accumulated in 4 months, total retail sales of goods and consumer services of Nghe An province reached nearly 52,000 billion VND, up 42.25% over the same period last year.

In particular, the revenue from accommodation and food services of Nghe An province, accumulated in the first 4 months of 2024, reached nearly 5,900 billion VND, an increase of 56.35% over the same period. Of which, revenue from accommodation services is estimated at more than 578 billion VND, an increase of 44.37%; revenue from food services is estimated at more than 5,200 billion VND, an increase of 57.8%...

Also according to the Nghe An Provincial Statistics Office, in the first 4 months of 2024, the province's industrial production index increased by 8.58% over the same period. The local industrial production index increased due to businesses' efforts to return to production and increased demand for some products.

Some products decreased due to decreased export orders, large inventories, high input material prices, and factories limiting production, so production output decreased.

Meanwhile, the total state budget revenue in the area in the first 4 months of 2024 is estimated to be more than 7,700 billion VND, reaching 48.49% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council and increasing by 28.9% over the same period in 2023. Of which, domestic revenue is estimated to be more than 7,200 billion VND, reaching 49.71% of the estimate, increasing by 28.8% over the same period.
