After nearly 2 years of stagnation, from the beginning of 2023 until now, the main markets for wood exports, such as the United States and EU member countries, have begun to import goods again. Accordingly, the wood manufacturing and processing industry is showing signs of recovery. Seizing this opportunity, the province's wood industry enterprises have been making efforts to implement solutions to find markets and attract orders back.
Truong Son Wood Industry Joint Stock Company, located in Ngoi village, Xuan Hoa commune (Nhu Xuan), is a unit specializing in the production of plywood products for export, with a capacity of about 20,000m3 of products/year, each year the unit purchases about 35,000 to 36,000 tons of raw materials. Most of the company's products are exported to the United States - a market that has been heavily affected by political instability and economic recession. Therefore, in 2021 and 2022, the company only produced at a moderate level, ranging from 15,000 to 17,000m3 of products/year. However, the amount of exported products only reached 50 to 60% of the amount of goods produced, the rest had to be kept in stock. Entering 2023, the export market has changed in a positive direction, the company has been actively contacting and reconnecting with old customers. At the same time, seek and expand markets in new countries.
Mr. Le Van Ha, Head of Administration and Human Resources Department of Truong Son Wood Industry Joint Stock Company, said: “Currently, the company is conducting new market surveys, research, technology innovation, step by step improving, enhancing, and diversifying products, meeting the increasingly high demands of customers, especially for the customer segment of the demanding market. Since the beginning of 2023, the company has continuously received many orders, so more than 80% of the company's inventory has been consumed, many new shipments have been and are being put into production".
In recent years, bamboo products of Bamboo Vina Production and Trading Company Limited, Yen Son Commune (Ha Trung) have gradually affirmed their position with domestic and foreign customers. However, recently, this unit has also been affected by the decline in orders. In the face of fierce competition among wood enterprises, in order to attract orders, the company has invested in and put into operation a system of machinery for processing furniture and household items from bamboo and rattan. This line has machines for cutting bamboo, splitting bamboo, shaving rough bamboo, shaving fine bamboo, rolling glue, pressing, to drying, steaming, and anti-termite treatment systems. The final products of the production line are bamboo cutting boards, tables and chairs, table tops, trays, boxes, bamboo floors, etc. Having strategic products, the company has made efforts to find outlets, with many forms from direct sales to online, participating in e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Tiki, Shopee, Sen Do, etc. Along with that, the company always actively participates in promotional activities, introducing products at fairs inside and outside the province. Notably, in August 2022, the company participated in the "NY Now" Summer Exhibition Fair 2022 in the United States. It is known that Bamboo Vina Production and Trading Co., Ltd. is one of 8 Vietnamese handicraft export enterprises participating in this fair. And most recently, Bambo Vina Production Co., Ltd. brought bamboo and rattan furniture and household products to the Ambiente Franfut Fair 2023 in Germany. This is the world's leading trade fair in the field of consumer goods held once a year and Bambo Vina is the only enterprise in Thanh Hoa participating in this fair.
Through active market research, along with highly applicable products and eye-catching designs, Bamboo Vina Production and Trading Company Limited's products have been conquering demanding markets such as the United States, Japan, Korea, etc. Currently, bamboo and rattan products have been introduced on the shelves of international e-commerce platforms Amazon and Alibaba. In 2023, the company plans to launch tens of thousands of products to the market.
According to the review and statistics of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are currently 69 enterprises importing, planting forests, processing and exporting wood and wood products in the province. In order for wood enterprises to maintain and develop the market in the context of fierce competition as today, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Industry and Trade are guiding wood and forest product processing enterprises to closely monitor market developments to develop appropriate business strategies. At the same time, focus on improving product quality, completing legal requirements to increase export turnover and meet domestic consumption demand, increasing revenue for enterprises. Relevant provincial departments, branches and units continue to accompany enterprises in trade promotion, creating conditions for wood enterprises in particular and enterprises in the province to seek and expand markets.
