At the meeting, the representative of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported on the situation and results of implementing the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, focusing on assessing the context, situation, outstanding results, some limitations, shortcomings, causes and lessons learned, thereby proposing some contents and recommendations to supplement the foreign policy of the 14th National Party Congress. The members of the Document Subcommittee exchanged opinions to clarify some contents.
In his concluding remarks at the conference, comrade Phan Dinh Trac acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts, endeavors and achievements of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in leading and directing the implementation of foreign affairs. In the context of many difficulties and severe challenges, foreign affairs activities have been implemented synchronously, comprehensively, flexibly and creatively, achieving important achievements of historical significance and long-term strategic significance, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, firmly protecting independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, protecting the socialist regime, attracting resources and favorable conditions from outside to serve the country's development, enhancing the role, prestige and position of Vietnam.
Foreign affairs activities have expanded and deepened relations with partners, focusing on neighboring countries, major countries, and traditional friends; especially raising and upgrading relations with major countries. Multilateral diplomacy has achieved many important results. Vietnam is confident and proactive in successfully assuming important positions and roles at multilateral forums; has many initiatives and cooperation ideas, participating in shaping the rules of the game and international economic-political order. Foreign affairs together with national defense and security strengthen the protection of the Fatherland early and from afar, contributing to firmly protecting sovereignty and territorial integrity; maintaining peaceful, cooperative and developing borders; effectively responding to non-traditional security challenges; effectively fighting in the fields of democracy and human rights.
Economic diplomacy has been promoted comprehensively, increasingly in-depth, with a focus and key points, making important and practical contributions to the prevention and safe adaptation to the Covid-19 pandemic, stabilizing the macro-economy, promoting socio-economic recovery and development. Work for overseas Vietnamese continues to be carried out effectively, contributing to strengthening the great national unity bloc, promoting national harmony; citizen protection work protects the legitimate and legal rights of overseas Vietnamese. Cultural diplomacy has been innovated and effectively implemented with many major cultural diplomacy activities, attracting the participation and companionship of localities. Foreign information work has been deployed synchronously and promptly; the content and methods of foreign information activities are increasingly innovated and diversified.
Comrade Phan Dinh Trac also pointed out a number of limitations and difficulties in the field of foreign affairs and suggested issues that the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to focus on leading and directing implementation, such as: Promoting the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system to be clean and strong in all aspects; continuing to perfect institutions, policies, laws, standardizing working processes, perfecting a streamlined and efficient apparatus; paying attention to developing human resources, especially high-quality human resources...
On behalf of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Comrade Bui Thanh Son seriously accepted the instructions of the Head of the Delegation and members of the Survey Delegation. Based on those important instructions and contributions, the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work with relevant departments, ministries and branches to make effective, timely and quality contributions to the building of the foreign policy of the 14th National Party Congress.
The working delegation noted and synthesized the recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to report to the Party's XIV Congress Document Subcommittee.
