Within the framework of the program, the delegation laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Monument in the center of Santiago City; paid a courtesy call to the leaders of the Communist Party of Chile; attended the Hanoi - Chile Investment, Trade and Business Connection Promotion Program; and visited and worked with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile.
On August 16 local time, the delegation laid a wreath at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh at Ho Chi Minh Park, Santiago, Chile. Also attending were Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Pham Truong Giang; Mayor of Cerro Navia district Mauro Tamayo Rozas.
In 1969, to express the spirit of solidarity, support for the resistance war for national independence of the Vietnamese people and deep feelings for President Ho Chi Minh, a park in Cerro Navia district, Santiago, Chile was renamed Ho Chi Minh Park. In July 2014, the monument of President Ho Chi Minh was built, completed and placed in the park named after him. Since then, the Ho Chi Minh Park and monument have become a symbol of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Chile.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan expressed his sincere thanks to the Chilean people in general and the Cerro Navia district in particular for their affection for President Ho Chi Minh - the national liberation hero and outstanding cultural figure of Vietnam. He hoped that the Cerro Navia district government would continue to pay attention to and preserve the statue of President Ho Chi Minh as well as foster the good traditional friendship between the two countries.
Mayor Mauro Tamayo Rozas expressed his respect for President Ho Chi Minh and his good feelings towards Vietnam, and affirmed that Cerro Navia District is honored to have a monument and flower garden named after President Ho Chi Minh. The people of Cerro Navia District will continue to preserve the monument and foster good feelings between the two countries.
Next, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of the Communist Party of Chile. Receiving and working with the delegation was comrade Lautaro Carmona - President of the Communist Party of Chile.
On behalf of the Hanoi delegation, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan respectfully thanked the President of the Communist Party of Chile for the warm, friendly and comradely welcome. At the same time, he expressed his appreciation for the affection that the Communist Party of Chile and the Chilean people have had for Vietnam since the days when Vietnam had to fight for independence and suffered from siege and embargo. The Communist Party of Chile also has many members who participated in the struggle for national liberation and independence of the Vietnamese people. The Chilean people love the country and people of Vietnam and respect President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese people.
Informing about the results of Party building and socio -economic development in Hanoi, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council congratulated the achievements of the Communist Party of Chile in recent times. On the basis of the good bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Chile, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council hopes and believes that the people of the two countries and the young generation will continue to foster the beautiful friendship between the two Parties and the two countries.
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan respectfully requested the Chilean Communist Party to increase exchanges and share experiences with the Hanoi Party Committee on Party building work; at the same time, contribute to strengthening the relationship between the two countries and between the capital Hanoi and Chilean localities; connect activities to enhance and promote bilateral cooperation activities in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, cultural exchange and other areas of interest to both sides.
On this occasion, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan invited the Chairman of the Chilean Communist Party to visit the Hanoi Party Committee in the near future.
Delighted to welcome the Hanoi delegation to visit and work in Chile and the capital Santiago, President of the Communist Party of Chile Lautaro Carmona said that he himself had participated in anti-war protests in Vietnam and had a lot of affection for the country and people of Vietnam. The Communist Party of Chile always supports and follows the development process of Vietnam under the leadership of the Communist Party.
President of the Communist Party of Chile Lautaro Carmona also informed about the results of the Communist Party of Chile in recent times and the preparations for the 27th Congress of the Communist Party of Chile, scheduled to be held in December 2024. In the context of many difficulties and challenges, the Communist Party of Chile wishes to contribute more to the development process of the world and solve global problems.
Visiting and working with the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan informed about the socio-economic situation of the capital in recent times, directions and tasks in the coming time and the areas in which Hanoi is calling for investment cooperation.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Pham Truong Giang expressed his joy and highly appreciated the working trip of the Hanoi delegation, emphasizing that the potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Chile as well as localities is still very large; suggesting that Hanoi continue to study and promote cooperation activities, investment promotion, trade, tourism, cultural exchange, and people-to-people exchange between Hanoi and Chilean cities.
On behalf of the leaders of Hanoi, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan thanked the Ambassador for his cooperation and thoughtful reception and requested the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile to continue to pay attention and coordinate to promote the image of Hanoi to international friends; promote the friendly relationship between Hanoi and localities, and help Hanoi strengthen investment promotion, exchange and cooperation in various fields.
The working visit to Chile by the Hanoi delegation ended successfully, achieving the results set out in the program, contributing to the development of cooperation and friendship between Hanoi and Chilean localities, promoting investment, trade, tourism and other areas in the city's socio-economic development.
