Strengthening cooperation in various fields

During the meeting, the two sides informed each other about the economic and social development situation of each side. Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee's Political and Legal Affairs Commission Yuan Gujie affirmed that 2023 is an important year, a turning point in the China-Vietnam relationship after the visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

In Vietnam, under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the cooperative relationship between China and Vietnam has always developed and reached a new height, including the relationship between Guangdong province and Hanoi. In 2023, the total import-export turnover between Guangdong and Vietnam ranked first in the country, reaching 48 billion USD. Guangdong province has many enterprises investing in Vietnam, including not only state-owned enterprises but also private enterprises with large investments. It can be said that the relationship between Vietnam - China in general and Guangdong province in particular is very close, with many similarities.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong affirmed that Hanoi attaches special importance to the relationship with China in general and Chinese localities, including Guangdong province. During the delegation's visit this time, there will be a special activity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of official friendly relations between Hanoi and Beijing. At the same time, the delegation's visit to Guangzhou this time also concretizes the instructions of the leaders of Hanoi and Guangdong.
