Associate Professor, PhD, Doctor Nguyen Quang Dung shared at the workshop

Sharing at the workshop, Associate Professor, Doctor, Physician Nguyen Quang Dung, head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety from Hanoi Medical University, emphasized the important role of nutrition in the health and development of mothers and children.

Associate Professor Nguyen Quang Dung affirmed that nutrition for breastfeeding mothers is a key factor in providing adequate nutrition for children through breast milk. Mothers need to maintain a varied diet, rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and drink enough water (from 2 to 2.5 liters per day).

Supplementing micronutrients such as iron, calcium and vitamin A is also extremely important to maintain the mother's health and ensure the quality of milk. In particular, mothers should eat about 500-675 kcal/day more depending on the level of weight gain during pregnancy to maintain the energy needed for breastfeeding.
