Multi-talented female student - the only excellent valedictorian
The only new valedictorian this year from the School of Business and Management (HSB) is Tran Hoang An, a Bachelor of Marketing and Communication (MAC), who graduated with honors with a GPA of 3.72/4. Hoang An was honored to represent 134 students to speak at the 2024 graduation ceremony.
At the beginning of her speech, An bowed her head and shared about the pain and loss caused by the recent Typhoon Yagi. For An, this was like a promise to the country, that the children would certainly become useful people for society.

Borrowing the words of Steve Jobs - the late CEO of Apple - who once wished new graduates, Hoang An believes that only through experience and hard work can we realize what makes us truly happy and what we want to strive to achieve. Even what we choose in the end may be completely unrelated to our initial interests.
"There is no path filled with roses, it is completely normal to feel confused, afraid, and pressured when starting a new journey. "Stay hungry, Stay foolish" - "Stay hungry, stay foolish", said Hoang An.
It is known that as a student, Tran Hoang An achieved many outstanding achievements in studying and extracurricular activities.

In addition to completing her studies with excellence, An also participates in many social activities such as MC collaborator for VTV; representative of Vietnamese students participating in the POSCO 2023 Global Young Leaders Forum on Sustainable Development; social project administrator sponsored by the United Nations and POSCO TJ Park Foundation; top 20 VTV3 MC Competition in 2023; won the ESG sustainable development initiative award at the Asia Young Leaders Forum in 2023; achieved the title of outstanding student of HSB - Hanoi National University in 2023-2024; young leader of Plan International and the United Nations...
With the above achievements, in the 2023-2024 school year, Hoang An was honored to win the title of Outstanding Student of Course QH-2020-D of the School of Business and Administration, VNU.
Every moment brings something special
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Hoang An said that he had tried very hard to achieve the above results. Right from the first year, he received a scholarship with an excellent grade with a total score of 3.4 (on a scale of 4).
Instead of relaxing herself with the university entrance exam results, An determined her goals and made a clear study plan. According to An, the transition from first year to second year is a milestone marking a great maturity in her learning awareness and desire to improve and develop herself.
From year 2 to year 4, Hoang An achieved 100% excellent scholarships in all semesters and many other prestigious corporate scholarships.
The keyword I always apply is learning to understand, not to memorize (Photo: H. An).
An's secret is that for any subject, she always looks for reading materials before the teacher lectures to proactively grasp knowledge and understand the lesson more deeply.
"The key words I always apply are learning to understand, not to memorize, learning to develop, not simply to acquire knowledge. This helps me grasp the lessons firmly and apply them in practice.
I think the most important thing is to start and always maintain learning with gratitude, initiative, positivity, and discipline. Only when we truly cherish and desire it, will we wholeheartedly strive to achieve our goals.

Instead of doing everything at once, I manage my work according to a priority matrix based on 4 levels of "important" and "urgent", from which I arrange my time appropriately.
For example, before graduating, I focused on studying and improving my final grade.
During my internship, I focused on my work at Vietnam Television. Instead of taking on many tasks at once, I divided my time to do them most effectively," An said.
Sharing about her journey of striving to both achieve excellent academic results and participate in many social activities, especially as an MC, An said that every moment doing what she truly loves has a special meaning to her.

"MC is one of the three experiences that give me the opportunity to be myself the most, besides social work and scientific research. Nomadism, meetings, every confiding session, sharing stories,... from anyone have engraved a deep gratitude in me.
I love the moments when I can express my feelings to the guests and the audience. The feeling of looking down, or looking through the screen and receiving interactions from the crew, from the whole studio makes me feel like I'm "flying", everything is so vivid and radiant."
Before ending the interview, Hoang An sent a message: "I always live, study and strive with deep gratitude: gratitude to myself, my family, teachers, life and everyone, everything that comes to me.
With faith, persistent effort and gratitude, we will firmly go far. Looking back on my own journey, I believe that gratitude will guide us all."
Explaining the reason why the percentage of excellent and good graduates is low compared to many other schools, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi, Principal of the School of Management and Business, said that this is because the school's training programs are interdisciplinary, with strict criteria for both input and output.
"The school's assessment of students by scores is very fair and transparent, there is no giving/asking for scores. No one interferes with the scores other than the students' own actual abilities. Therefore, most of the school's students graduate with good grades, very few are ranked as good or excellent," said the school principal.
According to the school principal, although the students graduated with good grades, with the professional skills they were equipped with in the school, they are not afraid of unemployment. The proof is that according to the school's statistics over the years, 100% of the students here have jobs after graduation.
