1. Through many seasons of the Forum, hot issues have always been pondered and raised by the Organizing Committee, creating a special mark that is not confused with any other program and is also the unique path of the Journalist and Public Opinion Newspaper. Success after success, the results from each season are proof of those constant efforts.
This year, “ Solution journalism: The way forward for traditional journalism? ” is also a topic of interest, and has become the focus of analysis and interpretation in newsrooms from around the world to Vietnam. In fact, the mention of solutions has appeared in the world press for a long time, but it was only in the past two decades, especially in recent years, that the phrases Constructive journalism or Solutions journalism have received more and more attention and are mentioned more and more in research on journalism and media.
In today's information-exploding society, huge sources of information from social networks and news sites are fiercely competing with traditional press agencies; the press public is confused and even disoriented by the flow of information on social networks of unclear truth, right and wrong, and management agencies have to follow social networks to handle information...

In that context, experts believe that traditional press must demonstrate the functional role of mainstream press, must promote the role of constructive press, solution press, thereby being able to retain and attract readers. Opening the newspaper, clicking the "mouse" to see information from each page must see more positive aspects of social life, the press must highlight its role in maintaining and improving society to become better...
Therefore, Solution Journalism can be understood as in addition to activities of reflection, criticism, and struggle, the press also plays the role of giving advice, proposing solutions, and measures for implementation instead of just raising issues and then leaving them hanging. This means that the press plays a more active and responsible role in the issues of the country and society, especially in proposing solutions to solve the issues raised, contributing to building trust and consensus in society. The approach to solution journalism is to give people a more realistic and complete view of the issues that people and society are facing, helping to promote civil rights more effectively. Solution stories can take many forms, but they share some main characteristics: identifying the root causes of a social problem; highlighting an answer or answers to that problem...
2. How has the story of solution journalism come from the world to Vietnam? In Vietnam, how has the solution journalism trend been and is being implemented by press agencies? Why should solution journalism be one of the main directions of Vietnamese journalism? Is solution journalism one of the effective ways for Vietnamese journalism to develop and maintain its position in the current context? What are the ways to effectively implement solution journalism? These will be the main contents discussed by delegates in the 2 sessions of the Editor-in-Chief Forum 2024. The first session has the theme: Solution journalism - Trends and potential; The second session has the theme: Implementing solution journalism: Which methods and models are effective?..
Editor-in-Chief Forum 2020: "Press and the problem of revenue development".
Hot issues, current events, real stories of the world press, of Vietnam and of each press agency in the country will be raised and shared by more than 100 delegates who are leaders of press management agencies, leaders of press agencies in the country... Of course, Solution Journalism is not simply about providing solutions, but also includes evaluating, analyzing and verifying the effectiveness, sustainability and wide applicability of those solutions, monitoring the process of application, handling, and solving problems of functional agencies and informing the end of the incident, thereby promoting the joint action and response of the whole society on a certain issue or field...
The same was true of the discussion at the Editor-in-Chief Forum, where stories were suggested so that press leaders could share a common vision for solution journalism, thereby finding more suitable approaches in actual press activities, contributing to promoting the development of Vietnam's revolutionary press in the digital age.

As journalist Le Quoc Minh commented: “A clear direction for the journalism industry is constructive journalism/solution journalism, in which press agencies, while reporting news, also propose solutions or elaborate explanations so that readers feel empowered and given hope” … Solution journalism is a positive trend and is consistent with the movement of the press in the current period. The press is increasingly demonstrating its role as a companion to the Party, the State, localities and the people in solving practical and urgent problems of society and the country… In the context of the digital age with many changes, solution journalism is a direction for traditional journalism to affirm its position and reputation as well as retain its audience.

There is no general formula or common path, each press agency must determine its own needs to build a plan for its own development problems. However, the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Editor-in-Chief Forum hopes that the frank exchange and shared experiences will bring a meaningful message contributing to the development journey of today's press on the eve of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
