The program is organized by the Department of Party and Political Affairs ( Ministry of Public Security ), directed by Ho Guom Theater, taking place on two nights, May 2 and 3, at Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
The two children of the author of 'Ho keo phao' joined the music night.
Musician Hoang Van's two children participated in the music night as scriptwriter (Dr. Le Y Linh) and general director and orchestra conductor (conductor Le Phi Phi).
For the first time on the stage of Ho Guom Theater, nearly 300 artists, actors, and musicians will participate in performing vocal and instrumental works about Dien Bien Phu.
Among them are names such as Meritorious Artist Nguyen Huy Duc, singers Dao To Loan, Pham Thu Ha..., pianist Bich Tra (daughter of violinist Nguyen Bich Ngoc and People's Artist Tra Giang)...
Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online, Dr. Le Y Linh said that the team implementing this special art program hopes to, through music , recreate the heroic spirit of victory and the heroic sacrifices of the army and people in the historic Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
Her script idea was to make a music night of excellent works that were awarded prizes at the first National Cultural Congress held at the end of 1954.
The first prize was the work Ho keo phao by musician Hoang Van and four second prizes included the works: Que toi giai phong (My Hometown is Liberated) by Van Chung; Mung vich Tay Bac (Morning Victory in the Northwest) - music by Dang Dinh Hung, lyrics by Dao Vu and Thai Ly ; Singing to celebrate Dien Bien Phu Victory by Do Nhuan ; Mua lua rien (Ripe Rice Season) by Hoang Viet.
Ms. Linh wishes to make a music night consisting of works created in a special moment - a little-known page in the history of Vietnamese music.
The works are arranged in a new and contemporary way. For example, Ho keo phao by musician Hoang Van was arranged by musician Trong Dai for the Acapella unaccompanied choir.
Celebrating the victory in the Northwest by musician Dang Dinh Hung will be adapted ( fantaisie ), arranged by musician Diran Tavityan (North Macedonia) into an instrumental piece for artist Bich Tra to perform with the orchestra.

Music in father-son relationship
In addition, the music night also honored works written about the Dien Bien Phu Victory afterwards, such as the Dien Bien Phu Symphony - a monumental four-movement work written for choir, conductor and symphony orchestra by musician Hoang Van.
Or the work Giai Phong Dien Bien by Do Nhuan, will be rewritten by his son - musician Do Hong Quan - for the Ministry of Public Security's brass band to perform.
The program also reserved a place of honor for four works full of optimism, lyricism and tragedy: Guerrilla on Thao River (Do Nhuan), Uncle Ho is marching with us (Huy Thuc), Grateful to Ms. Vo Thi Sau (Nguyen Duc Toan), That soldier (Hoang Van).
"The song Ho keo phao and the Dien Bien Phu symphony - choir will be performed along with many other outstanding works with a new arrangement style.
I am so touched and proud to listen to and arrange my father's beautiful, lyrical, heroic melodies again," musician Le Phi Phim confided.
