What are the expected university admission scores in 2023?

According to the announced enrollment information, universities all reserve a large proportion of their enrollment quotas for the 2023 high school graduation exam scores. In particular, most of the enrollment quotas of medical universities are based on the high school graduation exam scores, such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine. In the education sector, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also reserves 40-60% of its total enrollment quota for the graduation exam scores; Saigon University has up to 70% of its total enrollment quota for the scores of this exam.

At some other universities, the quota based on graduation exam scores is still at 50-60% of the total quota. Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, predicts that the admission scores of the school's majors based on high school graduation exam scores may decrease, especially majors with admission scores above 25 in 2022.

Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, also predicted that the standard scores for the school's majors will be 0.5-2.0 points lower than last year. Of which, majors that last year required about 22 points or more can now be reduced by a maximum of 2 points. Some majors such as mechanics, electronics, and garment technology will decrease by 1.5 points compared to last year. The remaining majors will decrease by about 0.5-1.0 points.

Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Hoai Thang, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, commented that the benchmark scores for majors with many candidates interested may not increase, such as: computer science, artificial intelligence, logistics and supply chain management, mechatronic engineering, automotive engineering, etc. Meanwhile, majors with average benchmark scores or lower than last year may decrease slightly this year.

Master Le Phan Quoc, Deputy Head of the Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that the benchmark for the 2023 high school graduation exam scores for the school's majors this year may not be different from 2022. Mr. Quoc's comments were drawn from observing candidates who were admitted using the school's transcript method and specialized competency assessment exam this year.
