A university's benchmark score increased rapidly.

According to the announcement of the benchmark scores of the 3 early admission methods for regular universities of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, the average score increased sharply compared to 2023 at both Ho Chi Minh City campus and Vinh Long Branch.

The school has early admission methods including:

Method 3 - Admission of excellent students (PT3): the admission score is the converted score from the study results of the entire year of grade 10, grade 11 and semester 1 of grade 12 with some optional criteria (international English certificate equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or higher, winning the provincial/city excellent student award, students of specialized/gifted schools). The maximum score is 100.

Method 4 - Admission based on study process by subject combination (PT4): admission score is the average score of subject combination of grade 10, grade 11 and semester 1 of grade 12 with similar criteria as above, maximum 100 points.

Method 5 - Admission based on the capacity assessment test scores of Ho Chi Minh City National University, round 1, 2024 (PT5): admission score is equal to exam score, maximum is 1,200 points.

The results show that the benchmark scores of 56 training programs increased sharply compared to 2023.

Specifically, the benchmark score for method 3 ranges from 48-83, with the highest increase in the industry being 11 points; for method 4, the benchmark score ranges from 49-85 points, with the highest increase in the industry being 9 points; and for method 5, it ranges from 800-995, with the highest increase in the industry being 40 points.

The group of talented bachelor's programs and ASEAN Co-op bachelor's programs is 72-73 points.

In Vinh Long, the score distribution of methods 3 and 4 is from 49, 40 respectively, an increase of 1-8 points compared to 2023, and method is 550 - 650, an increase of 50 points.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said that the standard score of method 3 and 4 shows that most of the candidates admitted to the school meet 3 criteria including being excellent students or above; possessing an English certificate or excellent student award at the provincial/city level and belonging to specialized and gifted schools.

Notably, this year, nearly half of the admitted candidates achieved English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 73 points or higher.

According to analysis by Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, the benchmark scores show three trends in choosing majors of the current generation of students.

Majors with high benchmark scores include logistics and supply chain management, digital communications and multimedia design, marketing, international business, finance, corporate accounting, auditing, economics, etc.

In which, logistics and supply chain management continue to have the highest benchmark scores in all 3 methods and both facilities (The benchmark scores of the 3 methods above are 83-85-995 at the Ho Chi Minh City facility and 49-48-650 at Vinh Long).

The groups of industries that attract a large number of interested candidates include marketing technology, financial technology, digital business, logistics technology, robotics & artificial intelligence, ArtTech - art technology, intelligent control & automation...

In particular, ArtTech - a completely new training program - first trained in Vietnam, has received great attention and has a high standard score ((65 points PT3, 44 and 900 points PT5).

Groups of majors belonging to the "niche" professional group but having an important position in the national labor market such as agricultural business, public management, public finance, political economy, hospital administration, etc. The number of candidates applying for these training programs has increased compared to previous years, with the standard score increasing slightly from 3-5 points.
