Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes that many ministries and branches jointly manage electricity prices.

In the report sent to the Government on the draft amendment to Decision 24/2017 on the structure of adjusting average retail electricity prices for which the Ministry of Industry and Trade sought comments, in addition to the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed that relevant ministries and branches coordinate in managing and statistically assessing the impact of adjusting electricity prices.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is the agency in charge of inspection and review. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for coordination in terms of being the State price management agency.

Specifically, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is still responsible to the Government for state management of electricity and electricity use, including electricity prices. This Ministry will be the agency guiding the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to calculate the average electricity price, adjust electricity prices, and preside over inspection and supervision.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade also proposed adding the responsibility of the General Statistics Office in assessing the impact of electricity price adjustments on the macro economy.

Tighten tax management on gold trading

In response to recent hot developments in the gold market, the General Department of Taxation has issued an official dispatch on strengthening tax management of gold, silver and precious stone trading activities.

Through inspection and examination, if organizations and individuals trading in gold, silver and precious stones are found to have violated tax laws and show signs of crime, the case will be transferred to the police for investigation and handling in accordance with the provisions of law. Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes importing wind power from Laos

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just proposed to the Prime Minister the policy of importing electricity and the plan to connect the Truong Son wind power plant from Laos to Vietnam.

Tuoi Tre Newspaper reported that the Ministry of Industry and Trade believes that importing electricity from the Truong Son wind power plant to the Northern region is necessary, contributing to supplementing the power source to enhance the ability to ensure electricity supply, reducing the risk of power shortage for the North in 2025 and the following years.

The investor of the Truong Son wind power project has sent a proposal to sell electricity to EVN, with the ceiling price for importing electricity from Laos to Vietnam for the type of wind power plant operating commercially before December 31, 2025 being 6.95 cents/kWh.
