The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ha Sy Dong, has just signed a decision approving the outline of the task of assessing the overall source of waste, the carrying capacity and proposing solutions for sustainable management of the water environment of Sa Lung River (Vinh Linh district) to determine the sources of waste, the ability to receive wastewater, and pollutants based on the characteristics of the purpose of water use and the self-cleaning capacity of the water source to serve as a basis for state management agencies in granting licenses and having appropriate solutions to control, minimize, and treat sources of environmental pollution and sustainably manage water resources.
Accordingly, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment is assigned to be responsible for the correctness, completeness, suitability and effectiveness in completing the tasks as prescribed by law. The implementation period is in 2024; the scope of implementation is the main Sa Lung river basin and 2 tributaries (Bac Bai canal and Lai Hai stream).
The specific objectives are to determine the characteristics of water sources, the current status of waste sources, the impact rate of production and business sectors; identify the causes of the incident on the Sa Lung River and build a data set to serve the management of pollution sources on the Sa Lung River.
At the same time, the existing pollution load of each river section of Sa Lung River, the pollution load from many sources of discharge into selected river sections, the load capacity assessment and calculation were performed... From there, solutions were proposed to sustainably control water quality and protect the water source of Sa Lung River.
The implementation content includes: collecting documents, investigating, surveying information; collecting and analyzing water samples to determine the load of existing water quality parameters in the receiving source and the load of pollution parameters in the wastewater source; forecasting the wastewater receiving capacity and the carrying capacity of Sa Lung River in the next 5 years; supplementing groups of solutions...
It is known that Sa Lung River currently ensures irrigation water for 700 hectares of winter-spring rice and 245 hectares of summer-autumn rice, and also provides water for 200 hectares of aquaculture, creating a source of domestic water for more than 5,000 people. In recent years, the water source of Sa Lung River is not guaranteed, often polluted, which has significantly affected the production and daily life of the people.
