Strengthening expert connections, promoting innovation
At the meeting, the representative of the Vietnam Innovation Network in Australia reported to the Minister on the operation situation, including some key results in the recent period such as: In 2021, collecting 14 typical projects to participate in the Hack4Growth Global competition; In 2022, organizing a series of seminars on High-Efficiency Agriculture; In 2023, organizing a seminar on green, sustainable, and efficient smart agriculture chains, and compiling the Vietnam Smart Agriculture Yearbook.
In an exchange with the Vietnam Innovation Network in Australia, the Minister updated the socio-economic development situation of Vietnam and the development goals and solutions in the current period. At the same time, he hoped that the Network would continue to expand and diversify its activities, especially strengthening coordination with the National Innovation Center (NIC) and Innovation Networks in other countries. Thereby, it will continue to promote the development of the Vietnamese intellectual community in Australia in particular and contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
Receiving the Minister's direction, the representative of the Network said that the next phase will continue to promote the building of a core team to develop, connect and support future members. At the same time, promote cooperation and diversify human resources by strengthening the connection between Vietnamese experts in Australia, connecting Vietnamese experts in Australia and Vietnam, connecting Vietnamese and international experts...
In addition, the Network will organize a variety of activities to find ideas for implementation and commercialization, support NIC in forming Research Centers (labs, start-ups) and training centers in NIC's key areas.
Working with partners on hydrogen
At the meeting, hydrogen partners in Australia updated and reported to the Minister on technology development projects for the hydrogen sector, and expressed their desire to cooperate in implementing specific projects in Vietnam in the coming time.
On that basis , the Minister requested partners to research and propose specific cooperation projects in the field of green hydrogen, ensuring the most suitable and effective for Vietnam, focusing on supporting: (i) Improving technological capacity; (ii) Developing human resources for green hydrogen; (iii) Connecting investment, directly supporting Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the Hydrogen market of Australia and the region.
Promoting economic - investment - trade cooperation
At the meeting and working session, the two Ministers expressed their desire to promote economic - investment - trade cooperation through specific and effective cooperation projects, in line with the advantages and development orientations of both sides to match the bilateral relationship that is preparing to be raised to a new level.
Recognizing and welcoming the achievements that Vietnam has made, Minister Conroy said that the Australian Government always considers Vietnam an important partner and wishes to further promote investment cooperation and development support in areas that are consistent with Vietnam's development orientation.
To achieve the above objectives, Minister Conroy wishes to learn about Vietnam’s current priority areas. At the same time, he hopes that Vietnam will soon resolve some difficulties and problems related to RMIT University’s project and Australia’s ODA projects in Vietnam.
In discussions with his Vietnamese counterpart, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung suggested that the two sides continue to closely coordinate to implement specific projects in 8 key areas of NIC, especially through the Australian Government's non-refundable aid package worth 90 million Australian dollars for Vietnam and development support programs in the fields of climate change response, sustainable development, etc. In addition, he hoped that the two sides would continue to promote comprehensive cooperation in the fields of education and training, developing high-quality human resources, especially human resources for the electronics and semiconductor sectors.
Regarding the difficulties and problems related to Australian ODA projects and Australian investment projects in general in Vietnam, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung pledged to promptly resolve the issues raised by the Australian side. At the same time, he pledged to create all favorable conditions for the implementation of projects supported by Australia and for Australian investors to invest and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam.
Sharing the same view, Minister Conroy said he will assign relevant units of the Australian Department of International Development and the Pacific to coordinate with Vietnam to soon implement specific cooperation projects, including development assistance projects, non-refundable aid, and technology transfer.
The two Ministers agreed to continue maintaining the dialogue mechanism and coordinate to arrange a visit by Minister Conroy to Vietnam in the future to discuss specific cooperation contents, thereby promoting bilateral economic - investment - trade cooperation between the two countries.Source link
