The slope is located at the gateway on Nguyen Thong Street in Phu Hai Ward (Phan Thiet), when going from the center of Phan Thiet City to Mui Ne National Tourist Area. It is also the most beautiful location on the whole route, as it is located next to the entrance gate to the national relic complex of Poshanu and Lau Ong Hoang, which is famous for the love story of the sentimental poet Han Mac Tu and Mong Cam.
The name Lau Ong Hoang originated in 1911, associated with the French Duke De Montpensier who came to Vietnam for tourism and hunting. Seeing the beautiful landscape here, he had the idea of buying land to build a villa to rest during his hunting and traveling trips.
The slope has been named after Lau Ong Hoang since then, from where people can observe the landscape in all directions. The most beautiful is the view towards the sea and the city. From the top of the slope you can see the picturesque coastal city of Phan Thiet. Thanh Ngoc - a tourist from Hanoi who came to relax in Ham Tien described that when standing on the slope, Phan Thiet is sparklingly beautiful and mysterious, especially at dawn and dusk when the city lights up. On rainy days or when the sea is rough and cloudy, the whole city seems to be lost in mist.
Along with that is the view of the immense blue sea, Co mountain, poetic Ba Nai hill in the color of tigon flowers, reminiscent of the famous poem "Two colors of tigon flowers" by TTKh. Not only Thanh Ngoc, many locals and tourists also love the landscape of Lau Ong Hoang slope. However, there are also concerns and fears that this beauty will disappear in the future when the locality has not yet raised its value.
Expanding the road to the Poshanu relic complex
Those concerns stem from the fact that they see the entrance gate and the road leading to the Poshanư Tower - Ong Hoang Tower complex is narrow, with only one lane. It is not suitable for the landscape and the famous Poshanư destination, which is ranked at the national level. Not to mention the land fences emerging in the area, which threaten to destroy the landscape. "This route is very beautiful, if Binh Thuan does not pay attention to the expansion plan, it will lose its priceless landscape. At the same time, it cannot meet the number of tourists in the new situation, especially when the North-South Expressway has been put into use," said Mr. Tran Huu Dung, a tourist in Ho Chi Minh City.
What Mr. Dung said is similar to the statistics of the PoShanư Tower Relic Site Management Board. In the first 6 months of 2023 alone, the relic site welcomed 100,000 visitors, including more than 3,000 foreign visitors. Meanwhile, the whole year of 2022 welcomed more than 134,000 visitors. This figure shows that the number of visitors to the relic site is higher than the previous year, thanks to the highway. "On major holidays, there are many vehicles, many 45-seat vehicles have difficulty entering and exiting the welcome gate," said the relic site management board.
Accordingly, it is necessary to soon renovate the green park and expand the road to the national relic complex of Poshanu and Lau Ong Hoang in this area. It is not only convenient for visitors to visit the relic site but also protects the landscape of Lau Ong Hoang slope as well as the entire landscape of the area. This contributes to creating more destinations for visitors when they can go up Ba Nai hill, where Phan Thiet city is covering hundreds of Lagerstroemia trees at the foot of the hill, admire the coastal city of Phan Thiet on the deep blue East Sea from above; visit the relic site of Poshanu and Lau Ong Hoang like visiting Ponagar tower in Khanh Hoa - the symbol of Nha Trang tourism.
