“Mother’s Day” is not fixed every year, usually celebrated on the second Sunday of May. In different ways, each person will express their feelings for their mother, it can be wishes for health, visits, encouragement or practical gifts from the heart. Because she lives far from home, every year on Mother’s Day, Tran Thi Phuong, a student at the National Economics University, often sends her mother loving words over the phone, and sometimes even surprises her with gifts. Phuong has always kept all the gifts she has given her mother very carefully, whether they are homemade or expensive gifts.
Phuong's mother is a teacher at Lao Cai City High School No. 2, but she quit her job 4 years ago to receive treatment for her illness. Knowing that she was sick, Phuong's mother did not appear depressed or negative.
To help her mother have more spirit to overcome the disease, Phuong proactively talked and confided in her mother more. “I often ask my mother random questions about many topics, then write down all her answers in the notes section on my phone: her shoe size, her favorite color, her favorite flower, the prescription of her glasses... Not only is it a way for me to talk to my mother more, through that, I can easily choose the gift she likes on every special occasion” - Phuong shared.
The more we grow up, the more we feel many kinds of feelings in the world, there is family love, love, friendship, gratitude... However, no feeling can surpass the love of mother, the only feeling higher than the mountain, deeper than the sea. Mother is always forgiving, protecting, helping and taking care of us unconditionally. In the hustle and bustle of life, each of us is busy with many things to do, many things to care about, so we have little time to be with our parents, sometimes even neglecting to care for them. However, the gift that mother wants to receive is often not for herself alone.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Loan in Pom Han ward (Lao Cai city) takes her grandchild for a walk every afternoon, plays with him, and then comes home to prepare dinner. Despite the hard work, Mrs. Loan is always happy because she can help her child and take care of him.
If the happiness of children makes every day of a mother special, gifts are a way for children to express their love and gratitude to their mother. Ms. Phan Thi Dung, Mrs. Loan's daughter-in-law, said: My husband and I work in the police force, are busy with work, and rarely have home-cooked meals with my mother. I am quiet and shy about expressing my love to my mother and mother-in-law, although I really want to. This year's "Mother's Day" is more special when my husband and I organize a small party for the paternal and maternal families to gather. We gave both mothers secret gifts to express our wishes and took souvenir photos together.
There are two things that one should not miss in life, one is the last train home, two is someone who truly loves us. Coincidentally, the journey home will help us achieve both of those things, a real home is where our mother is. We do not need to wait until "Mother's Day" to express our love to our parents.
