Promoting people-to-people exchanges between Vietnam and Cambodia

The President suggested that the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association and the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association continue to coordinate to promote and expand the friendship incubation movement that the two associations have been implementing.

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, continuing the program of the State visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the morning of July 13, President To Lam had a meeting with President of the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association Samdech Men Sam An. Expressing his joy and honor to meet President To Lam during his first foreign trip to Cambodia, President of the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association Men Sam An congratulated the President on being elected by the Vietnamese National Assembly to hold the new position.

President of the Association Men Sam An also said that although he no longer works in the Cambodian Government, he still works in the Government's friendship group. President of the CPP Hun Sen has always directed the Association to promote relations between the two countries, becoming a bridge between the two countries. Therefore, the Association will be determined to promote relations to meet the trust of the leaders of Cambodia and Vietnam. Ms. Men Sam An expressed her deep gratitude and remembered the contributions of Vietnamese friends who have wholeheartedly and comprehensively helped and supported, including the blood of Vietnamese experts and volunteer soldiers, to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime, liberating the Cambodian people from the disaster of destruction. The President of the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association emphasized the brotherhood and neighborliness with many factors that cannot be separated from the strategic and traditional friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia, and pledged to work with the Association's leadership to further promote friendship, solidarity and people-to-people exchange activities with the determination to protect and preserve the friendship between the two peoples.

Speaking at the reception, the President highly appreciated Ms. Men Sam An's contributions to fostering the friendship between the two countries; emphasized that the cooperative relationship between the two countries has been constantly consolidated and developed over the past time; the two countries' senior leaders have maintained regular contacts and exchanges; bilateral cooperation mechanisms have continued to be effective; the two sides have cooperated closely within the multilateral and sub-regional frameworks, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world. The President hoped that with her deep affection for the country and people of Vietnam, Ms. Men Sam An, although no longer working in the Cambodian Government, will continue to make positive contributions to promoting the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. The President suggested that the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association promote people-to-people exchanges, especially between the youth of the two countries; At the same time, strengthen education and propaganda work so that people of all walks of life, especially the young generation of the two countries, have a deeper awareness of the meaning and importance as well as clearly see their responsibility in preserving and further cultivating the relationship between the two countries.

The President suggested that the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association and the Cambodia - Vietnam Friendship Association continue to coordinate to promote and expand the friendship incubation movement that the two associations have been implementing; at the same time, he hoped that Ms. Men Sam An and the leadership of the Friendship Association would continue to pay attention to and support solutions to remove difficulties for people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia. These include legal documents, relocating people living on the water to resettle on land, helping people of Vietnamese origin stabilize their lives, integrate into the local community, and act as a bridge of friendship between the two countries; at the same time, support and facilitate Vietnamese investors and businesses doing business in Cambodia. The President expressed his belief that regardless of her position, Ms. Men Sam An will continue to make important contributions to fostering and consolidating the friendship and solidarity between the people of the two countries.
