Wilkin made a dramatic breakthrough in the third round. He birdied seven times and did not bogey, including the seventh birdie on the final hole to go from -3 to -10 at the end of the match. At that point, Wilkin became the target to surpass compatriot Deyen Lawson, who was two holes behind in the race for the championship. On the 18th green, Lawson missed the opportunity to pull Wilkin into the extra hole with a birdie putt that was a foot away from the hole.

After this mishap, Wilkin finished first, while Lawson finished second with a score of -9. Right after Lawson were Saptak Talwar (Indonesia) and Naoki Sekito (Japan) at T3 (-6). Wilkin received 17,500 USD when winning the cup made from Chu Dau ceramic ( Hai Duong ) with a history of formation and development of 600 years.

The tournament had 23 Vietnamese golfers but only three players passed the cut, including Nguyen Anh Minh, Doan Van Dinh and Nguyen Nhat Long. At the end of round 2, Anh Minh was in T23 (even par), Van Dinh and Nhat Long were in T45 (+2).

On the way to the finish line, Anh Minh was in top form. In addition to the only bogey on the opening hole - hole 10, the 16-year-old golfer also scored five amateur birdies, including three consecutive birdies on holes 16-18. Thanks to that, Anh Minh finished eighth (-4), then received the "outstanding amateur" award. Nhat Long, 20, with the final position T37 (+2), was honored by the Organizing Committee as "outstanding Vietnamese professional player".
