Dao Anh Tho brings people back to real life through the exhibition MetaReverse

CAT's real name is Dao Anh Tho, born in 1989 in Hanoi in a family with a long history of art: Her mother is famous lacquer painter Bui Mai Hien, her father is performance artist Dao Anh Khanh.

However, during the first 30 years of her life, Dao Anh Tho spent her time studying, living and working in the financial world in many countries such as the US, Australia, Japan, China and never thought of becoming an artist.

At the age of 31, Dao Anh Tho encountered many changes in her life, but she was strong enough to overcome them and decided to take the first steps to explore art. After her 32nd birthday, CAT - Dao Anh Tho composed non-stop for 6 months and completed 20 ballpoint pen drawings on paper.

Less than a year later, she adapted them into 22 large-scale lacquer paintings (168cm x 120cm). In addition to painting, CAT also completed a music album of 6 songs composed and performed by her, with music composed by two musicians Tri Minh and Rabih Bardawheel.

Dao Anh Tho launches exhibition "Meta Reverse - Rebirth".

After a period of challenging herself as an artist, Dao Anh Tho decided to debut to the public with the exhibition Meta Reverse - Rebirth . CAT hopes that her paintings will be recognized in Vietnam, thereby creating momentum for her to introduce her works to the world.

“I have been to more than 13 countries and territories. In the end, I concluded that everything must have roots. My roots are Vietnamese. As a Vietnamese, I need the support and motivation of my country to go far” - CAT shared.

The exhibition Meta Reverse - Rebirth by artist CAT - Dao Anh Tho, will open at 5:00 p.m. on October 22, 2023, and run until November 10, 2023 at Lunet Art Galerie, 63-65 Hoang Dieu, Ba Dinh, Hanoi.
