At the time when Sinner was leading 2-0 in the third set, Medvedev started to lose his temper after making a double fault. Then, the Russian player angrily threw his racket when he failed to save the ball from Sinner's net shot.

After picking up his racket, Medvedev was booed by the Italian audience. He responded by making a silent gesture to the crowd, then pointed at some people sitting nearby, waving his hand to provoke the audience to go down to the court.
At the end of the match, Medvedev calmed down and shared about the incident: "It's not a big deal. Honestly, I lost control after losing the serve game.
The crowd in Turin was fantastic throughout the tournament. It was normal for them to cheer for the home player Jannik Sinner. I also appreciated that they applauded after every good shot I made."
In the second round of the Paris Masters 2023 in early November, in a 3-6, 7-6, 6-7 loss to Grigor Dimitrov, Medvedev put his hand to his lips to silence the fans and then continued to provoke the French audience. On his way off the court, Medvedev continued to be booed by the Paris audience and he responded by raising his middle finger to the crowd.
